any one ever tried using magnesium nitrate as a green colour agent....would love to hear comments

Magnesium nitrate doesn't burn green. I'm fairly confident its the zinc you mixed it with that is burning green. Magnesium is actually a fairly strong white emitter IIRC in the absence of chlorine donors.

That is definitely a zinc green.
