Today I was finally able to get out, to ignite my rocket. Unfortunately, a "fail".

The shell was ok. (timing of blue stars, the timing of crossettes was super.) However, the motor did not work properly. I think I know what I did wrong. I have used TT as a delay. With 1cm above the spindle I have about 3 seconds delay. 3 seconds seemed a bit long for the weight of the shell. So I pressed only 7 mm and a bentonite plug. Then I drilled the hole in the plug, and came a bit into the delay. So I had probably only about 5 mm above the spindle. The lit through under the weight of the rocket, I think. On the next rocket I will use win39 again for the delay. I had not such problems with that comp.....

ps:

@nath0r

The yellow caps were a gift from a friend from the USA.

I see those yellow caps for sale on here every now and then.

Now, onto the porn posted... Is that a wood plug in the salute?

Shame about the premature delay. Blue stars looked great and the crossettes looked good too

Thank you guys :)

Today i need to press some new D1 crossettes !!!! :D

@ Mr.B

Yes, on my little BS on the rockets, i use thin wood plugs.

There's a good part in your failed rocket: now we can see the exact pattern when the shell goes off and the reason for having the shell ignite at apogee rather then when the rockets starts to descent.

Actually, the cone shape is quite beautiful, and used with care i could see it done intentionally. But of course, at a much higher altitude.

And the crossettes, that stuff is just art.

Here is a white strobe & report ring rocket

Some things to change here.... Delay of the rocket was to short. Break was a bit to hard ( blown the most of the strobe stars blind )

Viking, what was the break charge in that heading?

Posted

Only BP. ( pretty hot ) 1" canulle. But i think that maybe one or two of the reports got damaged by the break and "boosted" the break?!
