Hello all, quick question. I've never bothered to ask.

For example there are many different websites that have the same chemicals for sale but is it always the same quality? For example.. Amazon has the 2lb Aluminum Powder Ekhart German Black 5413 hSuper at $30 for 2lbs with free shipping.... While
HobbyChemicalSupply has the same product for $16 a pound.. making it $32 for 2lbs.. and on top have to pay $20 shipping.

I've never really thought about it, but are the chemicals of different quality? No.. right? They should always be the same, or am I wrong.
If so, amazon does have a deal here.

Most pyro chems are surplus and don't have a name brand or a detailed lab analysis. So it's a bit of a crap shoot and you assume if a pyro supplier is selling it, that it works.

With something like 5413H, we assume it is the real deal and that one source will be the same as another. In this case, I would buy the cheapest and test some when I get it. If you know how it behaves it shouldn't be hard to make sure it works as it should. If you have never used it before that might be a bit more difficult.

That's what I had in mind, thank you FlaMtnBkr. I will purchase it from Amazon.

I used to get my chemicals from www.ScienceForYou.net but apparently it seems like they have run out of business... the website does not work any longer nor can I find them some other way. Even phone numbers have been disconnected or not picked up at all.

The usual pyro suppliers understand something of the shipping rules for hazardous materials. Likely amazon does not.

There is one pyro seller who uses Amazon to handle the listing and transaction, and ships it himself. Not everything Amazon lists is actually sold and shipped by them.
