JSwensen3 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Does anybody know what the best chemical/combonation is to get the brightest green firework stars?
Mumbles Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 There is no best combination. It's all personal preference. Also, what does this have to do with rocketry?
jl88 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 This is in the wrong forum but the brightest star I know of or have tried (only tried 3 greens) is Troy Fish's parlon stars Barium nitrate 0.63Parlon 0.25Magnalium 0.10Red gum 0.03 Bing with acetone. See skylighter rubber stars for more info. Barium nitrate is quite toxic though so be careful. Also will need a good coat of prime to ensure reliable ignition. Add titanium up to 5% for a nice tail. There is also a red and yellow in similar brilliance. Very bright green, as skylighter says though, can really only be matched with red of equal brightness.
Respirator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 If you get many colored formulas too bright, the color gets washed out, but the one I prefer (and developed, at least in my own world) is following: Barium nitrate - 70Aluminium - 22PVC powder - 15Sulfur - 4 Bound with red gum (alcohol/acetone). Offers a blinding turquoise - green but is not washed and not yellow. Also, the atomized Aluminium used here is much cheaper and more available (at least here) than Magnalium. Very simple but takes a while to solidify.
Zumber Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 (edited) I would save atomized aluminum for glitter stars and use here a dark flash grade aluminum powder insted of atomized aluminum.Hardt green #5 is bright green formula I have tried. Edited July 21, 2014 by swapnilsutar1988
