hindsight
Sparx88, what is the effect of adding erythritol to your BP? Does it enhance the burn rate significantly at the 3 parts per 108 you used?
BrainDamage
looks good I take it you ball mill it if so how long
Sparx88
Thank you 5 hrs milled and granulated with plain water. The speed is enhanced by the erythritol and seems that while doing this it also replaces the lost gases created by the reduction in sulfur fairly well. There's nothing special done to the erythritol, straight from the bag into the comp and then to milling. I have raised and lowered the amounts and seems this is the sweet spot of speed vs pressure for me. I'm no chemist and I'm sure there's a few people here that could better explain whats going on with that. I should mention that I do fire small cannons on occasion and that this bp comp is in part a result of that need so it has to be fast. It just happens to work well for pyro too. hindsight
Sparx88,Thanks for the details. For which other pyro purposes have you used this BP ? --hindsight
Sparx88
I use it for lift and burst as well as stars. Though right now I'm not really making bp based stars because I'm trying to master a different type. It really puts the shells up high and with lower amounts. I'm shooting 2" ball shells right now and for a 60 gram 2" ball I get 150+ ft with 5 grams for lift out of a 15" gun. The pine trees around where I shoot are avg 100- 125 ft and the shells are probably 20-40 above those. I'm a little under the 1 gram for every 10 grams of weight ratio but with good height. I would like to go higher just have'nt tried pushing any harder yet as flower potting sucks and I like to not do that, plus it's wastefull. Keep it somehwat tame you know. When using it for burst it does nice job without booster. Edited March 2, 2014 by Sparx88
