paddy Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Can anyone tell me where to buy stainless screens at a reasonable price? I will be making my own frames...
mikeee Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 You can purchase a full set of Gold Mining sorting screens for about a $100.00 for the set. The screens are round with plastic frames, you won't be able to buy a set of SS screens from McMaster for anywhere close to that price. These round screens fit right into the top of a 5-gallon bucket. Work really nice for pyro. 1
mikeee Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Ebay and Amazon should have the gold mining sorting screens if you are interested in using them.
asdercks Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Can anyone tell me where to buy stainless screens at a reasonable price? Eagle66 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Sizes down to 100 mesh http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_gnr_aps?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3A13+3%2F4+Top+Gold+Sifting+Pan+with+11+Bottom&keywords=13+3%2F4+Top+Gold+Sifting+Pan+with+11+Bottom&ie=UTF8&qid=1390371801
Jwdrummer5 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I recommend using 5 gallon buckets for the "frames". I did and I love it, you can mix comps directly into an uncut bucket, you can even stack them and classify bp to multiple grades. There's got to be a tutorial on it somewhere. I got screens from McMaster Carr and cut the buckets about 6" down from the top, flipped it over, and slowly heated the rim with my torch once soft I placed the screen on it and it melts into place. Continued heating seals the screens into place, but don't heat it too much cause it could burn or melt holes. Might be good to practice with a scrap. Once screen is in place grind off corners. I use mine for everything bp, I even use my 4 mesh screen for separating my lead ball mill media from milled comps, ind my media weighs about 30 Lbs. and as a bonus once you have a set of screens you'll have a few bucket bottoms for mixing and moving around comps and stuff. Just don't stack those, you'll never get them apart.
