Jonathan Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I received some LiNO3 the other day. First mixed 1g with 1g Mg-Al. Got what I anticipated: a fast, aggressive flash. No surprise. Am wondering if anyone else here has experimented with LiNO3. And if so, in what ways and with what results. Any comments about LiClO4 are also invited.

What is the meaning of the word as you use it? I've looked and found nothing on point.
Mumbles Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 He means deliquescent I'm sure. It means to absorb so much water from the atmosphere to dissolve itself. Things like potassium hydroxide, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, magnesium perchlorate, etc. are capable of this. It will depend on the relative humidity. Lithium nitrate has this unfortunate property.
