Hi guys, does any one knows what's the difference between these two kinds of dark aluminums from eckart?

6413 is "slightly more processed" I think the idea is that its a smaller particle size, but whats the point?

ah, ok.

just asking because I saw the eckart 6413 for sale in pyrochemsource and I just wanted to know if it was better than the 5413

I saw the same thing. It's a dollar more, if you have some leftover 5413, try doing a comparison to see which is better, I'd be interested to know.

post-14383-0-65996500-1389041688_thumb.jpg judging from the data both aluminums are almost identical. Edited by asdercks

It basically has less metal content? Why would we be charged for something with more impurity?

exactly! I know it has been milled for a longer period of time, maybe that's the reason why it has a higher bulk density but I don't think that'll change much in performance as both aluminums have the same burning speed

Save yourself the extra dollar and get the usual stuff. ;)

Save money and get IBA. It's much finer than 5413, and a bit more snappy. It's cheaper by the drum and should also be cheaper than 5413 from a decently priced source.

PCS doesn't sell IBA though, nor does HCS, only German Eckart. Who supplies IBA?

first and last time I ordered from pastime, they sent the wrong product, I had ordered -200 mesh magnalium and they sent a 60 mesh and even the label had the wrong mesh written on it so the whole thing was wrong. not sure if would order from them again, although I must say the their aluminum prices aren't that bad

Did you contact them about it? I personally know the guy that runs Pastime, and I would not believe he did it intentionally. I have ordered quite a bit from him over the years and he has always given me good deals.

I have not ordered from HCS or PCS so I can't say much about them.

You know what, I was so mad at that time that I did not contact them,oh crap! know I feel bad. I'm glad to hear good feedback from someone whom has actually bought from them, maybe I'll give their indian a try, thanks.

No problem. He usually vends at the PGI Convention also. Me and Wonderboy picked up enough stuff from him a few years ago to make a house and car payment! The IBA is good, I can vouch for it!

Um guys? I think Jeff has closed down pastimepyro... He had some trouble with the law this past summer.

I heard he was still trying to ship orders though, but I would be a bit skeptical at this point.

The site is down and there are whispers of a plea being worked out, I think he is going to be out of the game for a while.

HCS currently lists IBA: http://www.hobbychemicalsupply.com/servlet/the-5/fast-dark-flake-aluminum/Detail

From what I've seen with HCS it seems that if they don't have a product they remove it from the site rather than just listing it as "out of stock". I've gone there looking for something and not found it, then a couple months later ordered that item from them.

Good find! I didn't mine all the way back to the main site, my mistake.
