Dear all,

I wish you all a very successful, safe and happy NYE!

Just thought I'd start a thread so that everyone can post their videos for all to see!

Geez, i just shot one of my 2" canister shells and it flower potted......Although it's my fault since i tried a different way of making it by closing the shell with the endplug with spolette, thankfully i only made one shell like this.

Lesson learned......

23 4" shells. A 9 shot cake. 3 salutes.

My biggest stash yet.

Unfortunately I've got a chain of homemade firecrackers, a commercial 25 shot cake and 3 x 10 gram salutes

3 4" shells, and 7 3" shells. One of the 3" I had to scrap because it was too tight of a fit, and also the star was some strontium nitrate based red that always had difficulty lighting consistently, even though the prime is already like a meter thick! I got stopped by the fire department once... told me if I kept shooting they would confiscate my fireworks. So I went somewhere else to shoot and it went without a hitch. I even "reloaded" a spent 4" single shot that was lying around... just dropped the shell in and light, and it worked flawlessly.

However I had some weird problem with the 4" shells. On two of them, one or the other petal would light consistently, it was only on the last one that both layers lit (bleaser's white strobe and green, looks great too, lots of oohs and ahhs when it went off)

Hey Tryon, how about ya send me one of those salutes ;) , I have 12 or so rockets with Chinese FP ( the silvery very fluffy stuff) and a 2" brake to report for the opener , than a 2" c6 mine with a C6 insert . a few cakes , OOOOH BTW guys in about 50mins the worlds largest deiplay is going to try an be set . ill put up the link in a second.

My stash is a bit smaller than last year, 15 rockets a variety of coreburners, endburners and whistle. The one i`m looking forward to most is a coreburner with a 3" canister shell, pastel blue with 9x C6 tailed inserts to ti salutes. There`s a small 12" dola which may or may not get launched depending on how hard the wind is blowing. And, to keep the missus happy, a homemade "saluteless" cake, 10-shot, tailed inserts filled with R,G & B microstars & De`s.

I've got 2x 2" can shells 2x 10g flash ground salutes and one 50g flash ground salute.

Posted

Pyroman wheres the link?

4x 4" ball shells and a 4" canister 3 row timed report with BS for the final.

Posted

Started getting ready for NYE little to late so haven't made many or anything big.

12 x 3" Ballshells, 2x3" MultiSalute canisters, 20 shot 30mm cake and couple salutes.

Happy New Years everybody!

Posted

Mine was a 1g HE Salute that took a chip out of the asphalt, although probably not as loud as a 5 or 10g flash salute.

Posted

Would you dare light a 50g flash salute on your street? Wouldn't that be a bit much?

Posted
I would never shoot a salute on the street, none of the shells nor the inserts I shot had more than 2 grams of slow nitrate based flash

You did a nice job on that.

thanks chemtech89, what size were those shells in your vid, they're good! I liked the last two because of the colors and the bangs :P

Thanks! All 4" but the last was a cylinder shell. Yes I like the last ball shell (4th one fired) because as the inner petal of green burned out, the outter petal turned red. Edited by chemtech89

It's done! My first fireworks "public viewing". I have been working towards putting on a NYE event since I started in Pyro in about March.

It was certainly a memorable night. After some problems the week before when one dog-owning resident further up the street got wind of the immenent fireworks and "layed down the law" that there were to be no firewrks near her, we shifted the venue to the far other end of the beachside street where there was going to be a huge New Years Eve party and they said they would be thrilled to have some fireworks to round off a great night. Deal done!

Everything went fantastically – it all worked on cue. All the party goers were really thrilled and I don’t think anyone expected such a show. Seems they were expecting a few “fizzy homemade fireworks” to be lit on the beach. I was still working/modifying my new mortar racks at 7.00pm that evening. They were forecasting a bit of wind for that night so as well as adding fixings for the star pickets I decided to mechanically link them both to make them more stable and also allow them to be angled and locked in position. (see attached photos). In the rush I ended up drilling a ¼ inch hole in to my finger which bled profusely and is now quite a nasty wound.

Also, that morning I discovered that one of my 12 channels on the remote firing system was dead, and I had to “run around” looking for a new transistor to replace the dud one that switches the power to fire the electric igniter inside the shell…….. been a “full on” few days getting finally prepared.

Here’s the mobile phone video. Sorry for the wind noise

Not sure which of the 12 shells you are referring to in particular, but it is likely it is N1 glitter. Here are a 3 inch and 4 inch N1 Glitter shell that I tested the week before.
