californiapyro Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Question for you all... I have the opportunity to get some lodgepole pine charcoal. Has anyone used this for anything, and how well does it work? I'm mainly interested in it for stars, such as tiger tail and fireflies on cocaine, but any info would be useful. -Hunter
boule Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I haven't used that particular pine charocoal myself but most pines lend themselves well to any prolonged gold rain effect as long as long as they are not completely "overcooked".
xBangergoosEx Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Most of the pine trees that i gather wood from are Lodgepoles or Ponderosas.Lodgepole pine gives a really good effect in stars but like Boule said, it can be overcooked and look bad
pyrojig Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 If it it the ponderosa pine type ( which I believe it is) then my experience with this pine is wonderful. = very nice bp is produced ,and the sparks are very lacy ,and a voluminous burn in charcoal streamer comps.
Blackthumb Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I use several 'pines' for my charcoal...since I have a sawmill, the supply is endless...in the tons. Great tails with cedar/pine mix...
