I've got a new beauty:

1986 F250 6.9L diesel 4x4 with under 87k miles for $3,400. Bed lined, diamond plate tool box w/diamond plate lining the bed rails and tailgate, trailer brake setup, dual fuel tanks, aftermarket cd player. Originally owned by the NY fire department. I drove 4 hours into Ohio to buy her yesterday, well worth it. On the way home I estimated 17-18 mpg, better than I expected. Ran like a champ all the way home. There's two small rust spots on the drivers side at the corners of the panels that I'll have to patch up. No big deal there. I'll be running biodiesel come summertime.

I'm a happy camper. B)

Fairly cheap, compared to Europe, or so I hear. About 2.70 per gallon right now

Oh yeah, fuel got to be cheap in the US, because americans bring here huge cars in Europe :D. They are totally different, like monsters.

As for me, today I received my ordered 50 meters roll of 2mm visco and another 10m roll of time fuse. I'm so happy! :D

6.9 litre engine?! I guess gas is cheap in the US.

If I had gotten a few years newer it would have been 7.3L. Gas is cheaper here, but still expensive. Diesel is about $3/gallon. Believe it or not, a large diesel engine gets much better fuel economy than an engine 3/4ths the size that burns gas. Not only that, but a diesel can burn vegetable oil as fuel. I can fill my tank with the fry grease at the local fast food place. Or transmission fluid from the repair shop down the road for that matter. Cheap to free fuel.

You need a big truck to move big things when you live in a state larger than many European countries. I am also working on buying a local business which will require a large truck for towing trailers around.

We pay about $1/litre in Canada, so ~ $4/gallon.

As much as I'd like to, I'm not sure if it's legal here. Seems I would see them around on other trucks. Also, I don't much trust that it wouldn't be broken into if a gun was seen in the back. Times are tough right now.

Very nice, store it away safe.

~6$ per gallon here, calculated from around 1.15 euro per litre. At these gas prices, you wouldn't even consider buying a truck like that. I can't even imagine how much the registration for that monster cost. A 2 litre NEW (2008) diesel cost my dad a little under 1000€, and the fuel consumption rate is only around 7 liters per 100km (35ish mpg)

You don't buy a big truck in the States just because you want a more stylish drive to the grocery store - It's a work truck. A 2L engine won't do for towing a few tons of equipment around to jobs. No big truck, no big money. Taxes on purchase cost about $200, about $40 for a license plate.

PGF,

I've often wondered about how you folks transport around building materials or equipment without having utility vehicles like pickup trucks. Do you have everything delivered?

We mostly have it delivered on site, atleast what can't be moved by our own cars, pickup trucks are pretty rare here, but people do have them. Smaller offroad vehicles are more common for moving stuff around.

50AE, I got a bunch of 2mm visco a while ago, too. What do you use yours for- anything "special", or just for general use?

I use it mainly for my smaller devices, some down to the size of a 'gel cap' (like for medicine, if you follow me), but I find myself reaching for it more and more often- just because it works so well in general.

The stuff I got self-propels like flying fish fuse, but otherwise is good stuff.

Nice! What kind of lathe is it? Get some pics, man!

As for vehicles... I owned a 5 liter F-150 pickup for years. It served me VERY well. You don't realize how handy they are until you trade them in, which I did. Need to move a couch? No problem. Need to get a motorcycle in for service, one that doesn't run? Pickup truck. 500 lbs of Ammonium Nitrate fertilizer (YES!!), again no problem.

But for everyday tooling around, I traded it for... (drum roll)

5 Speed manual. I LOVE this little car. I am 6' 3" tall and easily fit with room to spare. I don't care about the imagery; I am too old to give a crap about my image. Besides, I have a weapon. If anyone wants to give me grief, I can return it in spades.

Swede...that's the kind I want...or a Porsche of some kind....or a BMW.

Anyways, I got my tux ordered for prom, played soccer with some friends, and got a free ice at Rita's. Hooray for the first day of spring2smile.gif

On the sad side, the girl I asked to prom, who said yes, still doesn't seem very conducive towards having a conversation with me.unsure2.gif

But my dad is getting a new computer soon, hopefully. Crysis, B:BC, CODMW, ME, etc here I comebiggrin2.gif

Yesterday was a fantastic day for me. Spent the afternoon with girl I like, then the rest of the day swimming/hot tubbing in 80*F+ weather around the pool with lemonade, beer and a whole bunch of girls. To finish it off we went to a party and then spent a few hours at the bowling alley for my friends birthday. I finally got home around 4-5 AM. biggrin2.gif

Edit; Fixed temp.

Phew!!! It's been a long time since I logged onto APC but I'm glad to be back!

I'm glad to see that we've upgraded to the newest IP board, and hope it's been working out for every one, have thsidewinder fixed the embedded video problem?

Ever since the old website went down I've been freaking out about you guys, wondering what had happened, after a while I wassort of taking a break from pyro because I had no dose of APC and a rather startleing encounter with police (if you guys want to hear about that just ask). Finally, I was able to make a new YT account useing a friends computer (this does tie into the whole story just wait) after resubscribeing to the best channels I know of I was catching up on Nighthawkinlights new videos and decided to ask him what happened to apc, being awesome he told me (; (thanks Ben). This was a few weeks ago and just now I finally decided to start working in the shop again. It's been a few months so I was cleaning the place up this morning and am going to make some stuff to shoot next time I get a chance.

Well all that said, has anyone missed me? Hehe, I sure did you guys!

ooohh that's a really great car, my sister and just got one as our first car, it a manuel, chile red with white racing stripe and black Jack on top and checkers "ears". I'll have to post pictures but I'm on my iTouch right now... One sad thing though... I'm only 14, so I'm riding shotgun untill I turn 15... In a YEAR!! /:

EDIT: please try not to mind the typos, I'm trying the best I can for the touch screen key board, and the auto spell on the iPod sometimes messes up what I'm trying to say

BTW she (the car) is named Stella so you can refer to it as that.
