OneEyeCharlie Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Good Lord. The chief of police probably got a verbal boner. He was able to use the word nefarious in a press interview. I wonder if the guy busted had a handlebar mustache that he twirled like Snidely Whiplash? Thankfully, they removed the inert chemicals. Sigh. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/10/07/fairfield-man-charged-with-making-bombs-in-home/
TheEskimo Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Up to 200 guns? Over 10,000 rounds of ammunition? 250 gallons of jet fuel? Legitimate fireworks/rocketry hobbyist perhaps, or maybe he had some major issues. Unfortunately, it doesn't give enough description to tell if the devices were large bottle rockets, or ground salutes or something along those lines.
OneEyeCharlie Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 He could be whacked. On the other hand, if you count pneumatic pellet guns (and I'm sure the cops would) I have 25 guns. Someone who's a collector could easily hit 200 without trying. 10.000 rounds sounds like a lot, but they don't specify. Four bricks of .22 ammo and you already have 2,000 rounds. Buy a couple of surplus, Chinese "sardine tins" of 7.62 because it's Cheaper Than Dirt... suddenly got a couple thousand more rounds. Phrase things correctly and omit some salient facts, and I could make your mother's speeding ticket become a death grudge against the Amish. After the break in to his house, his first instinct was more than likely... call the police; I'm a law abiding citizen. They search his place, see something with a fuse sticking out of it in his workroom, RED ALERT.
flying fish Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 There is a discussion of this on passfire. We think he is just a hobbyist with a fancy gun collection and the authorities have blown this way out of proportion. The so called "bombs" sound like flash crackers to me. Irresponsible and illegal to have them laying around, but not "nefarious" as the chief insists. I couldn't explain the 250 gallons of fuel, though I would be completely unsurprised if that detail was completely made up. 250 gallons is a lot of 8" lamps!
