OneEyeCharlie Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Between my appendix bursting, and the rigors of work, I let my Passfire account lapse. As the cooler months approach, I anticipate have more time again for reading. For those of you with current Passfire accounts; has the level of vitriol diminished? I enjoyed the occasional nugget of wisdom from Mike Swisher et al, but towards the end of my membership the bitching and sniping had almost gotten intolerable. I don't want to drop the ducets; only to discover that the forums are replete with dicks and trolls. How about Ned's site? Thanks
mikeee Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 OneEyeCharlie, Not much has changed, Ned's site actually has quite a bit of activity on the site.Ned is always working on new tutorials, and plenty of people are posting photo's and videos. It almost seems as though the activity has moved from one site to the other one.I see quite a few names from the old site showing up on the new site each week.Kyle has a lot of good information archived on Passfire I hope he can keep it active.I know quite a few people that will keep an account on both sites.Ned's site has a little catching up to do with the formula database and tutorials. However Ned is posting new projects and tutorials on a weekly basis.
mikeee Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 One post on passfire in the last (3) hours, (Political Section)Twelve posts on fireworking in the last (3) hours. (Pyro related)
flying fish Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Are any of the fireworks "wise men" (Lloyd, Mike, etc) on Ned's site? They are the main reason I plan to keep my Passfire membership. The political discussions have gotten a little out of hand though. I think I'm finally going to jump on the Fireworking.com bandwagon, maybe then all the time I waste on the internet won't be completely in vain!
nater Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Yes, Lloyd and Mike Swisher are pretty active on Ned's site with their usual insight. I keep my account on Passfire active as well. The tutorials and archives are a great resource which I hope stay around for a while. The Passfire formula database is excellent and is one part that is a huge advantage to me over Ned's site.

I've kept my account on Passfire solely for the formula database. I haven't looked at the discussion in over a year. For the $25 renewal I'll probably keep it for a while, but it seems a diminishing value. There is new and unique content on Fireworking, and the tone is very civil. Beyond civil - collaborative. An individual has an idea, several people play with it, and new methods emerge. Kevin O
dagabu Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I let mine lapse, really no need to feed the E-monster anymore.
SideGlance Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 i don't believe in pay pyro sites... keep it open source hobby...
nater Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 i don't believe in pay pyro sites... keep it open source hobby...You get what you pay for. The cost of either of the pay sites is less than the cost of a good pyro book and contains much more information.
