Trying to make 3inch hemis

Hello Guys ,

 

I just bought few tennis ball which is good for 3 inch shell hemis .

I make some wheat paste follow some video on youtube tutorials .

I took 6 pieces of good quality A4 and tear it into strips .

I start paste my ball with stips . i try my best to folow the line by line but end up i dk which direction to paste

After that , i try to clean up my ball with a cloth like NightHawk*youtube video . My Ball start to become furry and its going to start to tear apart .

I cut into half with my knife and the problem is i cant pull it out like how NHIL video ! when i pull out , that half hemis is freaking soft like A4 paper .

 

i was quite piss off but i dont know why ... i spent almost 4 hours to make . and its fail ... i crumble it and throw into the rubbish bin .

what should i do ? A4 paper already like that , how about Newspaper ? which is so thin thin thin ... i do it very carefully already but still fail . damn man

I try my best to make another one tomorrow .

i put a piece of cling film around the tennis ball . this stops your hemi (when dry ) sticking to the tennis ball . you can use newpaper but it will require about 10 layers and a good day or so untill it is fully dry .before you cut and remove the tennis ball .

Make with A4 strips and the plastric thin wrap work well for me

i use elmer wood glue dilute with water . work well !!

i dry with hot blow gun ... anoter hour i will cut it

My Charcoal and Kraft Tape is on the way i just bought 3kg of kno3 and 2 kilo of sulfur hopefully its good to start ...

 

if my bp burst not strong like others and i dont have and FP , Booster ? does it break ??

 

Whats does the meaning or diffrent btw FP and Booster ? is it the same things

Booster is not always flash powder. Often it is other things like Whistle mix.

 

Flash powder has many uses other than boosting shells.

 

If your BP is not very fast and you do not have booster, you will definitely have shells that break open, but they are not likely to be wide or symmetrical bursts. This may mean that you cannot make some shell types (such as a peony) without getting more materials and/or a ball mill, but some other shell types need a gentle burs

may i know what does that call ... some effect ? dragon flower , something like when its burst , the star shoot out like streamer .. what does it call as ?

I'm not completely sure what you are asking.

 

Dragon flowers are little stars that burn without producing much light at first. Then they explode in to a ball of sparks.

 

Streamers are a completely different effect, though you can make streamer stars with dragon flower cores. Streamers are stars with a trail of sparks behind them. Silver stars, brocade stars, Charcoal streamers such as Tigertail. Some people consider glitter stars streamers, though other people are not sure if they fit this classification.

Back to the topic of making 3 inch hemis, or any 3 inch shell-- is there a simple, quick way to make a bio-degradable shell? Premanufactured, plastic shells seem quicker and easier, but (as pointed out elsewhere on the forum) plastic debris all over the field is uncool. Is there something that won't leave shards strewn about? And pasting and spiking are a drag for someone who struggled with paper, paste and scissors in Kindergarten. And what exactly is the rationale for spiking (yep, ignorant and uncoordinated)? Is it just to increase compression and evenly distribute forces around the shell, belt and suspenders, or is there something else...like maintaining a flow of Chi (Qi) or provide a means to hang it up in the coatroom? Gohjiejing, hope you don't mind me sharing the thread. By the way, gohjjiejing, saw your other post today and wondered where you live where they don't have rice hulls?

Generally only canister shells are spiked. It is done to add confinement to the shell as well as to increase the structural integrity of the shell so it survives the lift.

Aha, PK, another mystery solved. But still not sure whether I can sleep nights until someone reveals the secret to a biodegradable, klutz-resistant shell, particularly as a rocket header. Looking for something on the difficulty level of a plastic shell.

Thanks.. Found that hemisphere is really easy man.. But bp really hard.. I worry about the speed and.. Can't wait to build a ball mill

I've been told there are some biodegradable plastics out there, but don't really know where to obtain them. I thought that Plasticos Gamon was offering them, but I can't seem to find any.

 

If you want something a little easier, you might want to look into pasting shells with gummed tape or trying cylindrical shells. Cylindrical shells require minimal pasting, and it's pretty easy. I would still do it, but there are a lot of people who don't paste their cylinder shells for rockets.

Hey mumble... Is they any minimum speed for bp video? How do we know our bp is fast. And okay for pyrotechnics?

I got two batch of bp. Each of them 90g. One is fast and one is slow.. Can I combine them? Will it affect my bp speed

Granular bp isn't hard solid feel for me.. Not enough to dextrin? I took at big clump from the drying tray and burn it. It thump and fly.. I trying 5g lift with 13g container snugly fit to tube.

Mumbles, I'm always grateful for your input. The Plasticos gamon site http://www.gamon.es/ has much that is of interest to the shell-maker and I'm awaiting a response from them regarding biodegradable products in the off chance they know of something. But their paper products appear to be of first quality.

Pretty sure i saw biodegradeble shell on the gammon site some time ago, but there are some bio acceptable shells around this site, first of course paper shells using dextrine then even vermicult ones
