Wiley Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Where do you guys get finely powdered gilsonite for use in ground-based, cremora-style fireballs? So far, this is the only reasonable(ish) source I've found: http://smokechemicals.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=86 I was kind of hoping, considering the quantity that these devices use, that there'd be a source of powdered gilsonite in 50 pound bags or something similar.
Wiley Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 I've heard that gilsonite is sometimes used as a pavement sealant. Would it be possible to obtain the stuff from a company that uses it for this?
Mumbles Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Anything for a pavement sealing type application likely wont be powdered, like how we want it. The guy who owns/runs smokechemical.com often does group buys of bulk chemicals on passfire. He's offered up bulk gilsonite several times at very good prices, probably $1-2/lb at a certain quantity. I'm sure if you contacted him, he could give you a deal on a full bag. It's often the repackaging into small quantities that drives the price up. The stock he has listed is probably just want he has broken down into 1lb bags.
