Ideas for my display

Recommended Posts

H i huys I thought it would be interesting to hear and compare differente ideas to set up a pyro display for new years eve (you know like kind of stars, effects etc) here is a list of all the chemicals and materials that I have...

Chemicals:

MgAl 200-325, sodium benzoate, barium carbonate, barium nitrate, bright aluminum -325, atomized aluminum 200-325, aluminum eckart 5413, bismuth trioxide, kclo4, kno3, willow charcoal, 80 mesh charcoal, sodium bicarbonate, boric acid, sgrs, dextrin, red iron oxide, parlon, silicon powder, copper carbonate, strontium carbonate & nitrate, cmc, sulfur, calcium carbonate, red gum, firefly aluminum (eckart 41813g) +20, copper oxide black.

Materials:

I have different kinds of visco fuse, time fuse (both the cheap and expensive one) , falling leaves and flying fish fuse,

paper tubes: 1/4 " id x 2 1/2" long I'm thinking rockets with 7/8" plastic shell for heading. 9/16" id x 1 1/2" long tubes & 3/4" id x 6" long x 1/8 wall paper tube, I"m thinking a cake. 3/4" id X 2 1/2" long X 3/32" wall & 1" id x 6" long x 1/8 wall mmmm another cake. 2.5" plastic shells and 2.5" hdpe mortars, 1.75" paper shell and 1.91" hdpe mortars.

Tools:

ball mill (home made), set of stainless steel screens different mesh sizes 8, 10, 12, 20, 40, 80. 1/4" and 3/8" star plates.

I really would like to set up a nice display and at the same time I want to be safe so please do not suggest making any kind of salutes, although I've used slow kno3 flash for boosting/ braking shells/bombettes,(I've always used the diaper method and never worked on batches larger than 5 gr at a time) it would not bother me at all to use any other kind of composition for boosting my shells, so far i have been working with veline stars, winokur 20, dragon eggs, chrysantemum, tiger tail, different silver stars, shimizus colored stars (never with chlorates nor ammonium ones). whistle mix, and some other perchlorate/ mgal based stars.

once again I would like to hear you ideas, what would you do with the available chemicals and materials that I have.

The glitter formulae such as D1 can be very pretty, as can well made tiger tail, Slow Gold is a super effect if you can find some titanium flake.

Mines are good to instant impact, cakes and fountains have both height and time, shells and rockets can be high impact appearance.

dont forget about wheels and saxons, they`ll give you a long duration for minimal effort.

hey thanks for the advice, you know what this is the first time I've ever heard of the slow gold comp I've just watched some videos of it and it kinda looks like a firefly star but it is a really nice effect I will give it a try.

Reusable frames are worth the effort if you like wheels, the drivers dont take very long to make ;)

I'd advise staying away from slow gold, it usually has a bunch of fall out, and lights things on fire. It's about the same effect of a Diadem star, you might look into one of those.
