Good, they need to start enforcing that shit, before someone really does do something with it for matters of more than just fun.

Mr. Displayfireworks got a nice line in that broadcast....

Yup. I saw that train coming awhile ago.

targets have caused several large fires in my area, and of course, fireworks get blamed. Im for this change

The good ole boys around here have been mixing it in large quantities and firing at it. When it goes, the ground shakes and windows rattle and they are shooting over a mile away. Way more concussion from miss-use of this stuff than any pyrotechnic shell I've witnessed.

I won't be heartbroken if exploding targets go away, but the problem is - how will they do it? One way would be to enact legislation making unlicensed hobby manufacture of explosives illegal, which would obviously be very bad for us.

They should have better justification than simply being afraid of the potential for misuse if they want to ban the targets. Flammable, explosive, dangerous in the hands of idiots... sounds like fireworks to me.

Because of the the way Tannerite and other target explosives have and are being used it should be regulated by the ATF.

It is “an explosive kit for dummies, and it's pretty easy to make." Even the intent of an individual does not matter, ground salutes are not legal, M-80's are illegal and from what I have seen the dangers of these explosives devices are quite real.

The people who are using and mixing the ingredients for these devices are most likely not knowledgeable of pyrotechnic devices in the first place and they seem not to care.

Looking at the people in the videos petty much shows their demeanor and that these people enjoy destroying things. To me it is not much different than a kid with a M-80 and a mailbox when it is being used in excess amounts like what was shown in the video above - I am wrong, it is worse than a kid with a M-80.

So the use of explosive devices should be regulated by the ATF and it is because of the few bad apples that have missed used target explosive devices, that it needs to be done.

And Yes this will reflect on the pyrotechnic community, even through Tannerite has no real business in our hobby.................................Pat

I hope you all do understand if regulation goes into place that makes mixing a binary explosive illegal it will then also make all hobbyist shell building illegal as well. It won't even be given the privilege of a gray area any more.

There are some far-reaching and frightening consequences of a governmental ban on anything because a small number of irresponsible individuals misuse that potentially dangerous item. Maybe other forms of pyrotechnics would be the next target (as many here have implied). Maybe all pyrotechnics.. maybe specific firearms...maybe firearms in general. It's a slippery slope.

We have long had any access to tannerite banned here yonks ago in Oz.

But I wouldn't support it if I was over there. If people want exploding targets they will do so. How long will it be before somebody gets his hands on some chlorate and then mixes it with antimony trisulfide and does the same thing. I think that all it will do will be to take the irresponsible people who use those exploding targets and then put them firmly in the pyrotechnics hobby as well, meaning you'll get even more people who do the wrong thing.
