Haha, ah man, you just made me feel a whole lot more fortunate to only have my own lowly problems...

Yah, it was pretty bad. I remember thinking that I could just plunger one of the upstairs toilets. What I didn't know was that my overly vigerous attemps to plunger one toilet was just splashing stuff out of the other upstairs toilet.

In the mean time the downstairs shower had backed up all over the floor until it became completely clogged. Those stupid napkins have a leakproof liner and swell up tighter than a drum. I actually had to tear a hole in the downstairs bathroom ceiling just to gain access to the upstairs bathroom plumbing. It took two days to get it all sorted out and I still haven't fixed the hole in the ceiling or the mirror that I broke with a pipe wrench.

Whitney Houston died today, only 48 years old. I thought she was the greatest singer of my generation. Bobby Brown should have been hung for what he did to her - the very least he could do now is climb on the pyre.

<GLOOM> My dog is doomed. We gave him away to a new home last year, and yesterday I got a call from the fire department to say they picked him up off the roadside after he was hit and slightly injured by a car a couple of miles from his new home. The new owners hadn't changed his tags, so he still had my number on him. Today he was collected by Animal Control, who called me in turn. They won't let me pick him up, only the new owners can do that, and if they don't claim him he'll be put to death because he snapped at the fireman who went to help him. Unfortunately the new owners appear to have moved and they're not answering the phone.

Wow man, I hate people. Everyone's moving to get out of their problems these days. Had a client that had racked up quite a bill with me disappear the same way recently. There's just no way to get your dog back? That sucks.

PeretFind out when they will put the dog down if the new owner won't pick the dog up. Then call the news people in your area to start a story and see if you win. The story of a good dog and a bad owner might do well for you.

Good Luck

moving or finding a way to put the blame on someone or something else, or their bad childhood or some other horrible thing that happened to each and every one of us as well but somehow we all managed to take responsibility for our actions anyway....

OK, that about does what is bothering me and making me sad of late. Thanks! :)

Hope you find a way to save your dog Peret, I really do.

Heya everyone! It's been a minute since i last posted...

Even though I haven't been doing much at all lately I'm sad to say that a bucket of BP raw ingredients(about 10-15# of finished product worth) got stolen from my house the other day. I feel you guys, I just don't get people. This was just a dirty old bucket that my foreign non-english speaking neighbors took and refused to talk to me about since we could understand each other. It's not like i was planning on using them anytime soon(4th maybe) but why the heck would someone take a bucket full of salt and coal?!?

Well that's my rant, unfortunately I don't have anything pleasant to report >.>

If every one is calling you, because they never changed his tags. Then he is still your dog. I've seen how they check to see if a dog is none aggressive in shelters and, its complete b.s. They should take into account that he was recently injured, and what a traumatic experience that would have been.

Good news. I had a call from Animal Control today to tell me the new owners no longer live at their given address and can't be traced, so they regard the dog as abandoned. He has to do 10 days quarantine but if the owners don't claim him in that time, they'll make an exception for me to adopt him because I was a previous owner. They'll have to chop his nads off, since only neuters can be adopted, but I will get most of him back. His injuries are only scratches and bruises where he was dragged along under a car for a bit - no bones broken. I have a new respect for Animal Control, they've been very humane and understanding. And thank you all for the support here.

That's great to hear Peret. Good to know that screwed up situations can be resolved for the better every once in a while.

That's really great news. I have a friend who runs a shelter and the abuse they see is shocking. That is why rehoming is such a risk, keep your pets like children. They often do home checks, interviews, follow up checks, then 6 months later the dog is picked up starved and abused. It is why rescues end up being militant about adoptions. Also animal control has the liability issue of releasing a dog that has bit. No one in the biz likes taking animals or putting them down. Cleaning up people's failed attempts at ownership and cases of abuse every day makes them jaded.

Anyhow, very happy you got your pup :)

My wife found this out the hard way. Before we got married she adopted 3 dogs. One that was still fully intact. They said that she had to get it neutered within a certain amount of time or a warrent would be issued. Guess what happened? She sat around on her ass, forgot about it, then one day when she got pulled over for speeding she was arrested and sent to the county jail because of it. Probably one of the stupidest reasons why one could go to jail but at the same time I can see why they want peoples dogs to be neutered/spade.

Wow they must mean business. I would never have thought there would be any more than a stiff fine for such an infraction, let alone an arrest warrant.

YAY! I picked up my dog today from Animal Control. This should really be in the Occasional Happiness thread except that he's all skin and bones, looks as if he hasn't had a good meal in six months. Seriously, he looks like a famine victim, with his hip bones and ribs sticking out and all the fire gone out of him. He still has some muscles in his tail, though, so he can show he's happy to be back.

Good to hear. Bet ya'll are both happy to have each other back. Feed him well and he'll be back to his normal self in no time.

Glad you got the dog back Peret. It would have been really horrible if it all ended in the dog's death.

I am not going to say I am the type who puts a human life on the same level as an animals but sometimes, it would be more proper to put the master away than the dog.

As LaPorte creeps closer it's hurting more and more that I can't make it this year. I've got unavoidable commitments making me take off work for three solid weeks in July, then my business partner's wife is due in August so I can't be out of town for the convention or it could leave the business unmanned. I've been looking forward to this one ever since the site was announced. Nothing I can do. What a bummer.

That's too bad Nighthawk. At least next year isn't too far from the Great Lakes region either. Hopefully the convention will return to LaPorte. I would love to see a large location in Michigan too.

College costs for me have now risen to 59 big ones :( And they'll keep going up ...only 3 more years to go. With financial aid, its only about 38, but it's still wayyyyy overboard, imo, even if I will getting a great degree and education.

59!?! Sweet Jesus and Jenny. Is that at Rensselaer? Man, that's not much less then what I paid for my first house way back in the day. And using that comparison certifies me as an old man. "Stop throwing firecrackers on my lawn, ya durn kids"
