Ventsi Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 (edited) Yeah, thats what cracker told me, I might just give it a shot sometime. *********************************** Anyway, all day today everyone at my school was running up to me surprised that I was alive, I mean Everyone. One of my friends told me she was crying and almost had a breakdown. Turns out one of my friends who is a fellow student at my school by my name had passed away this Friday, he had just got H1N1 and was fighting diabetes. Made me think how many things I take for granted. R.I.P. Vincent L. Edited December 1, 2009 by Ventsi
Swede Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Bad news. My papa(grand father) Had to be rused to the emergancy room, he's now at the hospital, staying over night, maby alot longer. somthing is wrong with his leg. He's diabetic, and has had many operations on himself, in the past few years he has had a few toes removed from his afflicted leg(same leg as now), along with other stuff. recently he had his galblatter removed just a mounth or two ago. His leg is all red from the tip of his toe, to above his knee, had is suffering from terrable pain from it, he started to get sick just before turkey day. He may lose his leg. They say he has cellosius(SP?) and i guess he's on antibiotics. I hope he's alright...... That sucks Twotails. Give him some love. Family love means so much when you get older and have health problems. Also, it's a good life lesson for all... enjoy your time on Earth, try to stay healthy, and remember that family and friends are a tremendous comfort and happiness. Best wishes for his recovery...
TheEskimo Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Damn Harry Gilliam!!!!He's having a freakin everything half-off sale, and I'm poorer than Little Orphan Annie. I could really do with more of that excellent spherical Ti, some more tubes, perhaps some Al flitters, some more MagAl, parlon, and another $400 bucks of odds and ends.....
Twotails Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 An update on my papa, He had to have his leg amputated(As of now it's right below the knee) He's seems to be taking it well, the nurse tried cheering him up by saying that now that he's getting a prostectic leg(as soon as his legs heald), He can get big muscles put on it, he replyed "Wow! I've never had Muscles before!" So atleast he still has his humor. Im going up to see him today, Thanks for all the wishes guys.

flying fish Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) I may have screwed up a really good friendship... Didn't respect her alone-time and kept inquiring why she wasn't talking until she had to explain it to me. She viewed my persistence as being creepy (I don't blame her)... Really didn't even see what I was doing...it was an honest mistake but a mistake I wouldn't have made if I had been thinking at all. I can have incredibly poor social judgment at times. Lesson learned, but I really hope that lesson didn't cost me a friendship. I've just been feeling awfull about this so I thought I'd post it here. I haven't even told my other friends (apart from you guys) because I'm too embarrassed from my own stupidity. I never intend to make any of my friends feel uncomfortable...but somehow I managed to... Ralph Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 dont worry FF we all make mistakes and mistakes are only really negative if we dont learn from them. Give it a couple weeks an apology and a thoughtful gift and see if you cant start to mend the relationship

Didn't respect her alone-time and kept inquiring why she wasn't talking until she had to explain it to me. Fish...don't take this personally, altho it IS sent in your direction- Yer young. Inexperienced. I'm old and inexperienced. It's tough to gauge the fairer sex's feelings and emotions. I been married 24 years and I still miss the boat once in a while. But the Good Lord embued them with understanding that we're pretty much dumbasses, and build in a floral boquet/candy box interrupt in the firmware... Hang in there soldier. And yes... have them delivered...NOT by you ;{)
flying fish Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Hey, I'd rather be a dumbass than a creep .

One of the toughest things guys face is insecurity in a relationship. Jealousy is poison. I'm not saying that is your problem, but attempted control and "checking up" on a spouse or girlfriend will definitely send them running. There MUST be trust on both sides. My wife frequently travels for business. I know she gets hit on, but I have to trust her, as she does me. Give her some space for a while, then re-establish a new relationship, IMO.
flying fish Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the advice, and now I can see that "checking up" is a bad idea. She's a friend/casual date more so than a girlfriend. I wasn't really feeling jealous. It was more that I had some things on my mind that I was excited to tell her about, and I got a bit frustrated when she didn't seem very responsive. I was being narrow-minded and stupid and kept asking for a conversation rather than respecting her alone time. By the time I realized what I was doing was wrong, it had apparently already made her feel pretty uncomfortable. It's weird that I seem to be learning these basic rules of friendship just now...and the hard way! Also perhaps I was getting too close to this one particular friend, if she was the conversation that I was most looking forward to. Edited December 10, 2009 by flying fish
Richtee Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Also perhaps I was getting too close to this one particular friend, if she was the conversation that I was most looking forward to.Or perhaps... you may have more feelings than you wish to address at this point? I really do not miss this stuff. But it'll work out.
flying fish Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Haha thanks Rich. Nah, I don't feel romantically attached to her, even though we were starting to experiment with that side of the friendship. It's just that in the last couple months I've hung out with her more than pretty much all of my other friends combined, so we were getting kinda close. (and then I blew it)
Bonny Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 On to the (NASTY) weather. The low for tonight and the next few days is -35C... damn. Add the windchill and tonight might reach -48C. My computer power supply is still chugging away, pumping out the chlorate, in an unheated building, but is not sounding too healthy... It's been making a loud (mechanical I'm sure) vibrating sound. It can ,however, be silenced by a nice whack on top with the hand I don't think computer makers were expecting the power supplies to be operated in -25 and colder temps. As long as it can hold on for another few days until the run is done, I'll be happy.
Swede Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 99.9% the noise is the fan. You might want to hack inside the PSU and replace it with a better quality fan. Or simply add a switch in series. That way you can turn it on if it gets too hot, which it won't do in that weather! How do you keep the cell temp up? Got it wrapped in foam?

It seems the noise is vibration of the power supply shroud/cover plate, caused by the fan. I simply loosened the screws holding it on and it quieted down. I was going to unhook it, as you said, I think the ambient air would be enough cooling right now. For insulation I'm using a wrap around the bucket of metallized-double-bubble-metalized insulation. Seems to be working fine. I didn't insulate the top, but it's always warm to the touch, (cell is 18l with ~20A going in) I actually work in extrusion and we makes PE foam and bubble- so nice cheap (free) insulation available.
TrueBluePyro Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I was just sking on boxing day and I was giving the knee board a go because I can. But I fell off and landed face first into the front of the board, I snaped my tooth the left of my front teeth. I also smashed one of the front teeth which was bleeding and so it is in shock and there is a crack along it. I now have to get a root canal and pretty much a new tooth and crown cause I snaped it off right at the gum. Fun fun fun. At least I was able to find a dentist on boxing and I live in the middle of now where. I did a 260km round trip to get to the dentist and back in some country down. He ripped out the nerves and stuff and put some cerment in there for the time being. How much is a root canal going to hurt? Agh well, could've been worst lol, gotta look on the brighter side of things dont ya
Richtee Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 How much is a root canal going to hurt? Agh well, could've been worst lol, gotta look on the brighter side of things dont ya Somewhat less than childbirth, and no more than knocking the tooth out to begin with. ;{) Sheesh... well, yer prolly young. Get this silly shit out of the way while you heal quickly
andyboy Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 How much is a root canal going to hurt? Agh well, could've been worst lol, gotta look on the brighter side of things dont ya Well, what hurts is the needle and then you won't feel a thing. Paying for it will probably hurt the most. Could have been worse, you could have broken your nose as well, right?
TrueBluePyro Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) @ Richtee; haha, hmm child birth lol. It didnt hurt at all knocking it out lol, it was just a quick WACK!! and then i felt it with my tounge and was like "agh shit, thats going to hurt later". Im only turning 16 in jan, so the dentist said I should wait a few months till it is ready. For the time being, im going to get all the chicks with my new smile . @ andyboy; Yea, I just finsihed my wearing my retainer lol. My parents like too keep reminding me how much it is al costing and making me feel bad haha, glad im not paying for it, well in money at least hmm, maybe if i did break my nose it could've been cheaper? more painful, but cheaper Edited December 27, 2009 by TrueBluePyro
dagabu Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 hmm, maybe if i did break my nose it could've been cheaper? more painful, but cheaper Nope, I have had my nose broken three times, it leans to the left now and would rather do that again then break a tooth. D
TrueBluePyro Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 yea, that is what I meant, I meant it might've been better to just break my nose. Anyway, what is done, is done.
Gunzway Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Weather is going to be very bad on New Year's Eve over here. Probably can't launch anything safely so there goes my plans. I also can't launch it any other time without attracting a lot of attention. Keeping it is not an option as I don't have adequate storage nor do I want to be caught with so much stuff made. Sounds like a day of heart breaking shell dismantles... Maybe could get away with launching it early to miss the hardcore wind. Even aiming it over the water on the beach would still cause the shell to fly over the bush land and houses. At this point, let's just hope the weatherman is wrong like so many other times!
TrueBluePyro Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Agh, that suxs, I would hate to pull apart everything I have made, which isnt much, but still. It is has been raining for a few days now and we havent had a proper rain this year since feb' and we are in a realy bad drought at the momment and are feeding and selling cattle at this point, but I hope the rain can just stop for my new years party lol, that is the first time I have asked it not to rain.
Pretty green flame Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Looks like it's gonna rain here too, not too happy about that. I guess we'll have to send up a few titanium salutes to drive off the rain clouds
