TrueBluePyro Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 ^^^ Precisely the reason I can't WAIT until October, when I can get my grubby hands on Win 7. I have had windows 7 for a while now, even tho' it is only the evaluation copy, its still pretty sweet and I like it alot better then vista and I havent had any probs and it is FREE for me ....soo they are realsing it in October? I guess that is just in the US? and it will be released latter in Australia I bet.
NightHawkInLight Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Why not do something fun, and make up a bunch of aluminium sulfide? Then put it in a bucket of water, and seal off the hole. Voila, groundhog no more! I don't think the groundhog is actually living in that hole. I've got a barn not far away that I think he's made a home of. If I find where he's living you can be sure some sort of nasty surprise will be thrown in after him...
OneEyeCharlie Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I like throwing .223s at them. Spent a week at Bro-in-laws farm in Pennsylvania doing that very thing.
NightHawkInLight Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I like throwing .223s at them. Spent a week at Bro-in-laws farm in Pennsylvania doing that very thing.I've got a 9mm carbine with some pretty hot hollow point rounds I'm considering for that very thing. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I want to waste my free time sitting out for a groundhog when other hunting seasons are now open.
flying fish Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 For some more ideas you can always watch the movie "caddy shack"...
TheSidewinder Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 A .17 HMR does a wonderful job of pest control, too. No need for an expensive .223 round.
Bonny Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 A .17 HMR does a wonderful job of pest control, too. No need for an expensive .223 round. So would a 22LR...I don't think it gets much cheaper than that, plus almost everyone has (or used to have) a 22 lying around.
OneEyeCharlie Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 @ Flying Fish: " I smell varmint poontang. And the only good varmint poontang... is dead varmint poontang" @ Bonny & TS: You cheap SOBs. However, I do like the .17, and you can't go wrong with the .22LR. Many a raccoon, possum, and larger mammal has succumbed to each in my backyard
flying fish Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Im sick of school. Join the club! Actually, I've had a great time as a physics student, but this term I have no physics classes, just a bunch of pointless classes that I need to pass...but have little motivation to do so. Well, I shouldn't say O-chem is "pointless"...it is an interesting class. I just really suck at it. And the fact still stands that I didn't need O-chem, I just needed SOME chemistry class. My solution to that problem may have been unwise... I've decided never again to work on pyro when extremely tired. I set out to make "ruby red" and somehow ended up with this: RG: 6.77%KPerc: 9.07%Parlon: 15.56%MgAl: 10.42%Sr(NO3)2 48.49%Charcoal 4.85%Sulfer 4.85% Obviously I was at least paying enough attention to recognize my mistakes...otherwise I wouldn't have been able to come up with that formula! The lesson is that tired people make mistakes...and they could in some circumstances be safety-related mistakes...which are a no-no...
TheEskimo Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Blegh.......Money is low, school is boring, and I have splinters in my leg from playing manhunt.
Richtee Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Blegh.......Money is low, school is boring, and I have splinters in my leg from playing manhunt.Better than work is slow, life is boring because you have screws in your leg, eh? ;{)
WarezWally Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Car needs a re spray and a coolant flush, not looking forward to either Damn you MR layout.....
Swede Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Im sick of school. I'm sick of work. We don't get massive summer breaks. School is easier than work, and more interesting, too. That's life. You work, work, work, then get sick and old. When you finally have decent money, your youth is gone, burned up in brutal decades of labor for The Man. Taxes, Taxes everywhere, car and home maintenance, unappreciative children gone wild. All this awaits you!

TheEskimo Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! NOT REALITY, SWEDE.........NOOOOOOOO...TAKE IT AWAY!!!!! I was happier in my ignorance. Why, Swede, why, did you break my innocence??!! Darn You!!
NightHawkInLight Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Have been working today for a few hours granulating BP, milling core burner BP and TT, all the usual. I thought up a new glitter comp I really wanted to give a try, only to find that back when I had the problem of the groundhog breaking into my lab, he runnoft with my bag of iron oxide. I hope he chokes on it. I'll have to pick some up after work. It's sold as a concrete dye in hardware stores is it not? What's a good brand?
flying fish Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I'll bring my bag of Fe2O3 if we ever do that group build. Why would a groundhog want Iron Oxide? LOL.
Ventsi Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Sakrete is 97-96% Fe2O3 rest is Cab-O-Sil. Here is a pic:http://www.sakrete.com/images/products/CementColors.jpg I just freaking pulled my neck working out, I feel like an idiot. Its not that I could'n lift the weight, I just was doing it wrong. Hurts like hell and I can't lean to my left. Hopefully it'll be gone by tomorrow. Hot compress and massaging it is.

Cold within the firt couple hours is best I think... not sure but check into it. Reduces inflammation, numbs pain. Hot after to relax damaged muscle tissue.
flying fish Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I've decided that an infinite improbability drive may be necessary to pass all my classes this term... Does anyone have one?
TheEskimo Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Ahhhh...I had one..... I tossed it out. Will a Bistromathic Drive do? Got it cheap offa EBay. Lawl, enuf of the Douglas Adams, may he RIP.I don't like my mom's current service dog. She raises them, teaching them social skills, and basic commands; then they get passed on to get official training. Usually it's a lab, which I love. But this time it's a labradoodle---lab/poodle mix. It's ugly, and irritating, and won't stop poking into stuff.I think that I may get a bearded dragon....simple, nice if you get a good one. Had one named Perky, when we lived in Colorado. Had to get rid of him when we moved.....Sigh....
Richtee Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I've decided that an infinite improbability drive may be necessary to pass all my classes this term... Does anyone have one?Heh... I hear tutors are available at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
NightHawkInLight Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I'll bring my bag of Fe2O3 if we ever do that group build. Why would a groundhog want Iron Oxide? LOL.Possibly because it's from many years ago when I knew not how cheap it was to purchase. I made a few pounds of the stuff by soaking steel wool in vinegar to speed the oxidizing. I never ran out up till now so that's what I still used. I suspect a groundhog might have been in the mood for something sour... Back to the depression side of things, I left my wallet at Home Depot today. The process of recovering it as told by the employee on the phone could be compared to the following: Go to the McDonald's drive through at noon, order a small fry and mcfish. As you leave there will be a man in a yellow raincoat holding a pirate flag. Give him the mcfish but keep the small fry, for God's sake keep the small fry! He'll take you where you need to go. Nah it wasn't to bad. Got it back intact. Had more money in hunting and fishing licenses than I did in cash anyway.
Swede Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! NOT REALITY, SWEDE.........NOOOOOOOO...TAKE IT AWAY!!!!! I was happier in my ignorance. Why, Swede, why, did you break my innocence??!! Darn You!! Hee hee! Ever wonder why older people get a glazed look in their eyes when they think about their school days? It's because they wish they were back there. This IS the depression thread... you've got to spread the "cheer" around a bit. They did a study on lottery winners a while back. Everyone has a baseline "happiness" level. Let's say you are a 40 on a scale of 1 to 100. Then you win the lotto. They found the happiness quotient went way up, say to 80, but inevitably it sloped back down to 40 in a matter of weeks, months max. The only way to change that level permanently is with people. Family, and friends. That assumes your health is OK, health drives the happiness train quite a bit, but not totally. I'm convinced a person need good human interaction, and everyone needs a creative outlet. If you cannot create (music, pyro, models, writing, anything creative), then you spiral down into a nasty funk that is very hard to crawl out of.
