That is by far the least appetizing meat related picture you've ever posted. :)

Get better soon, Richtee. You've had a tough road these last few months.

Those screws look so damn hardcore :D

I KNOW! Shit...they are like 2 inchers! Almost screwed my knee together looks like! Nice sheet metal thread on 'em tho eh? If ya look close, they drilled the clearance hole on the one about a half inch too far into my shin bone...see the lighter shadow over the one screw tip? Ugh!

Seems as though you have been really unlucky for a while now but I love how you always seem so happy about it all. Gives one a bit of perspective, cudos.

Ewwww! That looks painful just viewing it!

Nice screwing you got there, Rich. ;)

And all that from chasing a puppy. Sheesh.

Get well soon!

in most countries on earth people who dont think the same and who wish to express them selves in art forms such as pyrotechinics are not permitted to do so. because in a world were one can express them selves people can still hope and can still dream and we could all lose that.

I re-read 1984 not long ago. It's an incredible book - everyone should read it!

I've been working on a few videos in my free time today since i took the day off on the occasion of opening goose season. Was working on a 50g grain core burning BP rocket and was pretty confident it would work just fine, though I had never quite tried that design before. I just made up the 50g of fuel needed with the old mortar and pestle, took a good long while. Anyhow it didn't lift off as well as I hoped. It was now late, but I knew the problem and repeated the process for another 45 minutes of tedious hand grinding and ramming.

Well that rocket worked great as I expected. On the way inside to deal with the footage, my finger slipped and I deleted the clip rather than previewing it <_< Right on my doorstep and I couldn't wait till I got to the computer before watching. I'm an idiot.

Now the only SD recovery program I could find that was free won't display my camera as an option for retrieval. Due to internal software by my best guess. Oddly in this mess of computer hardware I'm fresh out of SD card readers.

No luck with the geese either... -_- Complain complain, I guess that's all I do on 4 hours sleep in 48.

If anyone knows how to make PhotoRec recognize a Cannon Powershot A560 I'd be grateful...Or a better free recovery program.

If the recovery depends on an SD card reader: Take a look on ebay - SD card readers are rediculously cheap.

Or if we ever get around to doing a group build you can borrow mine.

For all you gore/science types, or just those with unhealthy interests in other's pain  :

Or for those of us who just like to make puns and other comical observations pertaining to your pain. I honestly can't think of anything else to add to the above though :). Hope that heals up mighty quick, so that you can get back to chasing puppies. More seriously, I hope everything works out.

Well, he supports what I'm doing, he just wants me to be legal as I can be. Yeah, I saw that article, it was on the Skylighter blog. A quicky question. Pennsylvania law does not allow CONSUMER fireworks other than ground devices, sparklers; no aerial devices. You need a license to shoot off commercial aerial products. Does this pertain to homemade stuff, or can I just go with what the Orange Book says about making your own fireworks?

I believe that the state law DOES pertain to your homemade stuff. The orange book stuff only contains the ATF's federal regulations, you still have to follower your state's as well. Granted, for most states the penelty for shooting consumer grade fireworks illegally is relatively mild (usually a warning first, though it could work its way up to a hefty fine), SO LONG AS NOTHING CATASTROPHIC HAPPENS! That's the reason why many states require you to have liability insurance (and pull a permit) in order to shoot fireworks. The repercussions (both legal and otherwise) of an un-insured disaster (e.g. forest fire) could be quite severe.

Thanks for the offer FF. I found an old camera to be a stand in for a card reader and it turns out, between two recovery programs they could rescue every deleted file from today on the camera...Except the one I wanted. DOH! I think it's lost forever...Oh well. I guess I could do better anyway. I'll have to get at it after work tomorrow.

I've said this before, but the probability of catching something on video seems to be inversely proportional to how well it works!

Acer Aspire 7535 + Vista x64 + Drivers = BSOD...

D'oh :(

Edit: Vista sucks even worse than it looks like. It takes 900% of resources for a 20% task.

Miech,

If it just started happening within the last few days, It's likely a windows update thing. Is it a "*** STOP: 0×0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF800020393AA, 0xFFFFFA60021EE7D8, 0xFFFFFA60021EE1b0)" error? If so, restart in safe mode, and uninstall windows update KB973879.

It's a laptop, nothing to build here :) . Vista is just a bunch of lag for me, so I'm back at linux (Kubuntu). I even got wireless working with linux (which seems to be exceptional). The problem causing the BSOD was the driver being unable to find the PCI slot, not the hardware (I checked). I might try Win7, but I'll wait for SP1.

By the time it's released Micro$haft will have a patch for it, I'm sure.

But a good thing to keep in mind for now.

A groundhog burrowed its way under a 20' long slab of concrete to get into my workshop over the last few days. I had been wondering of someone had been breaking in at night because there always seemed to be things out of place. It was just earlier today that I noticed the pile of dirt and the tunnel under my workbench leading into the next room, which is paved. The groundhog tunneled under that room from the far side of the building to come up in my unpaved work area.

I found it while looking for the bag I keep much of my fuse in. The groundhog had taken the bag to the entrance of the hole, bit through it and partially pulled out a bit of fast fuse. I guess he didn't like the taste cause that's as far as he took it. Good thing, it's an expensive bag.

I found the hole leading in and filled it with chunks of concrete for a temporary fix. I'll be setting a spring noose snare at the entrance of any new holes I see appearing.

Why not do something fun, and make up a bunch of aluminium sulfide? Then put it in a bucket of water, and seal off the hole. Voila, groundhog no more! :P

Groundhog bombs are pyro based. Pretty much heavily sulfur-ated smoke bombs. Is sulfurated a word? Eh, I just made it one.
