skid68
Tried my hand at rolling stars on Sunday and thought I would test one of them out. It is N1 Glitter and it looked great. The video is crappy, but the star looked great in person. I was pretty happy with the results. I kept the lift small because I didn't want it to go too high. It just downpoured, and was actually raining at the time so everything was nice and wet for the test. Can't wait to see them out of a shell.

skid68
Thanks guys. Yeah I can't wait to see them up in the sky. I'm using 3" ball shells. So far I've made: C6, N1, and Willow Diadem. Im also going to make Slow Gold, and Hardts Brocade this weekend.
Mumbles
As a fair warning, small stars still have the same hang time as large stars. Be careful what kind and size of shells you use these in.

Be careful what kind and size of shells you use these in. Duly noted, thanks Mumbles. I'm going off the star/shell size chart on Skylighter.http://www.skylighter.com/images/newsletter/99/star-sizing-tool.jpg
Mumbles
What I meant to say is that not all formulas are suitable for all sizes of shells. A star with a 10 or 12 second hangtime is ideal for a 12" shell, where as, it might be raining flaming debris from a 3" shell. A 1/4" star or a 1" star will have similar hangtimes, only the burn time will change. I'd be careful with formulas like slow gold, willow diadem, and various brocades. There are some tricks to making them burn out faster and be able to be used in smaller shells, but at a loss of some of the impact of the effect. giod
Just wanted to say, that your post was my inspiration to make my first rolled stars. I chose the N1 because of your video. I LOVE my N1 Stars, in fact I make my daughter come out EVERY night at dark to watch me launch 1 or 2 from the star gun. I replaced 200-300 mesh MGAL for the AL. they look awesome, ESPECIALLY on the way down! I even made a mini 3/4" canister mortar last night filled with some left over micro stars, and a raising tail of the n1 star. and it worked! I was VERY Excited for my first (albeit mini ) shell! Thanks for the inspiration!.. PS Did you use h20 or Alcohol for wetting?
