Newb question about cab o sil..

Not familiar with the use completely, but from readings, I can use it to add to my chemicals to keep them from getting clumpy and/or caking? My kn03 kinda cakes, and my sulfur is clumpy, making them slightly resistant to a good integration when making flash and other comps, is it safe to add cab o sil to these comps? Is the appropriate amount .001% ? Can I add it to the ball mill when milling my kn03. Are there any other uses for it other than anticake?

Thanks..

Hi

Yes.

Yes it is.

I'm not sure what is optimal. As much as necessary - as little as possible. Id'd say start with about 0,5%.

Yes.

No. Maybe silicon dioxide thermite... ;)

If you have a ball mill and you want to make BP or BP based stars, I suggest not to use it. I will impair binding somewhat and also might have an impact on the speed of BP. Also the charcoal usually acts as anticake.

If you want to store ready ground KNO3 for use in flash ect. I'd say go for it. Just mill your nitrate together with the anticake.

However, this will NOT save you screening your composition together properly. If flashpowder is your goal, first screen together KNO3 and sulphur, than diaper this together with your metallic fuel.

Oxidisers will take half a percent by weight of cab-o-sil and stay as milled for a long time for compounds that you don't intend to mill. If you intend to mill anything then added anticake is a waste.
