fredhappy Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Excellent viking! Great liftoff, nice round break, but crossettes suck to get to break in 4 pieces he... Ok, so , how did you get the glitter tail on the rocket engine? I assume you were using coreburner tooling?? Some advice on crossettes. A professional gave me the advice to not only use dextrin as a binder, but also add some arabic gum to the water which is used to press the comets. I don't know if this helps you. I havenever once been able to get the crossettes to break in 4 pieces though... But, you can be proud on yourself again, great little rocket, my compliments!.. best fred
VikingPyrotechnics Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 Thank you Fred .. I used a homemade whistle tool. For the tail I have a Cometglued to the shell. Here is a photo of it http://img3.fotos-hochladen.net/uploads/img0554qeto2prcgh.jpg N1 / D1 is generally not the best choice for a crossette comet.Win 39, Color and Tremallon there are much better suited.Nevertheless, it is quite a challenge, the perfect break into four parts. But just these challenges make this hobby so interesting for me and it never gets boring. I also thought of a harder binder. I'll try with the GA.Giving up does not exist Thanks VP
PyroCube Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Great rocket, looking forward to the round shell How did you break the crossettes? Greets
VikingPyrotechnics Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 Thanks i used granulated 7/3 whistle. Binder was 2% gum arabic .
Bobosan Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Nice straight flight....looked real pretty all around.
Mumbles Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Getting them to break all at once is generally more desirable than to break into exactly 4 pieces. When shot as shells, the crossette tails will overlap and generally not be particularly noticeable if they actually make 3 or 5 pieces.
