kpknd Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) The project is complete and somewhat successful. See attached video. http://youtu.be/DYMCe1eE2so In the second video it hit a small twig sending it for a tumble and loosing the front and one wheel, but it got back up and kept going. The reason it was faster is because I oiled the wheels and used a smoother surface to run on.Gotta do something about that FOD. Motor: 3/8" I.D. , BP solid rammed end burn (about 1.5" fuel length), 1/16" nozzel. Bottle rocket fuse ignition. Edited August 2, 2013 by kpknd 1
Bobosan Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Good job! That's a cool looking rocket bus...that a plastic model?
JFeve81 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I'm wondering the same thing. Was it a toy, model, or home built? If home built you did a very good job.
kpknd Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) Thanks. It is scratch buil of my own design. The cylidrical section and nose are from leftover Estes parts ant the wheels are something I got from somewhere a long time ago, the rest is made from wood. I found that a 5/64 dia. nozzel is better. It burnes a little longer and does'nt have a tendancy to caus the model to go out of too much controll. My youtube site shows a longer travel version of it, Rocket Bus part II. kpknd Posted November 15, 2013 Author Posted November 15, 2013 I thaught of putting a CO2 fire extingwisher on a soap box derby car, knocking off the valve and running it up hill.
kpknd Posted November 15, 2013 Author Posted November 15, 2013 I have put weight in it since then and it runs better.
