Selling pyro stuff

After everything that has been going on, I'm deciding to quit pyro for a while, until I get in some club or something more...legal. If anyone lives around Chicago or its suburbs, you are free to come and pick the stuff up. This is everything I have left:

~14oz 1um Al

1lb unopened 625 mesh aluminum

~3/4lb opened can of 625 mesh aluminum

About 3-4 gallons in volume of magnesium shavings

2lb bag of perc, unopened+sealed

~1.75lb bag perc, opened

One 5lb bag red iron oxide, unopened, and another bag, with about 4 lbs left.

About 20ft of rwb american visco

If anyone around here wants to buy it, please PM me and we will discuss further details. I personally love fireworks, but there is just too much bs going on right now, and I don't want myself to be branded a 'terrorist.' God bless you all, and I hope none of you get in trouble.

Sorry to hear that you're quiting... I always venture off for a while after the fourth but I always come back during spring/summer when I off from school. There has been a bunch of Government bs but I'm not crazy with my stuff.

Mark just look around, if you live in or around Chicago there is always small displays going on and I wouldn't be suprised if found someone that will help you get legalized and even give you part/full-time job. I live near there but I'm in no need of any chems right now even though the magnesium shavings do sound interesting. sorry.

markthepyro,

You mentioned a club.....

If you live in Chicago, making the drive once a month to the WPAG site (20 miles east of Wausau) isn't much trouble. I live in St Paul, so it's a 3.5 hr drive for me. We meet 5 times per year, May-Sep, on Saturdays. Joining the WPAG would be a very good start. Not too expensive, and full of VERY knowledgable pyros. I'll name-drop if you want me to, but I think most folks know of whom I speak.

This won't solve your storage/building problems immediately, but a number of WPAG members are more than happy to have newbies and friends visit their shops for building and learning. Meet and get to know these members and you'll find that they are more than happy to help anyone who wants to learn. I'm pursuing a similar course, though I hope to get my Type 20 this year and buy my own site.

At least reconsider your decision to sell off. Put it in storage for now. Nothing you have listed is THAT hazardous for storage. Inflammable, yes, so store it properly, but unless there's some nefarious municipal laws you're worried about, it shouldn't be a problem?

And if after all this, you DO decide to sell off, next May at the site I mentioned would be a good place to get rid of it all (I'll take everything you listed if you deliver it), and you're always welcome to stay for the shoot that night. ;)

Hope that helped...

Is there a specific age to got to one of these meets? I'll be turning 17 in Feb and I might also be interested. I guessing one has to be at least 18 though. My family might even want to go and just watch.

I don't think there is a minimum age to attend most clubs. Might need a parent to sign up as well is the worst case scenario. However to shoot class B one must be 18, and in the WPAG case take the PGI cert. course. I think class C is kind of a "can you hold a torch? ok go light it." type of thing generally.

Mumbles is correct, aquaman. I'd say go ahead and try to get one of your parents involved. By doing it this way, THEY will see that you aren't just trying to blow yourself, and others, up.

You can join the CLUB at 17, I think, but as Mumbles said, you have to be 18 to shoot Class B materials, and have taken the PGI shooters safety course.

Our club is offering the course again this year, date is Saturday, April 28th. It starts promptly at 10am, goes til the end of the day. We will NOT shoot any material except for what's planned as part of the day(you can shoot two 3- or 4-inch shells as part of the course itself).

Cost is $100 for NON-clubmembers, $75 for clubmembers. I'd strongly suggest joining the club at the same time, so you can save the $25 off the course.

Look Here: http://www.wpag.us/shooters_cert.htm

And you and your family are ALWAYS welcome to watch the fireworks we shoot on Saturday nights of the "meeting weekends". This usually brings out most of the townspeople for miles around to see the show.

Hope to see you this Spring.
