ChloRure Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I would like to start to work on fountain and had a success with a titanium one... But it was too white for what I want to do. I am looking at a gold/fire looking formula. I found this one: Golden Glitter Fountain A gold glitter fountain recipe. Potassium Nitrate 49Charcoal (Airfloat) 12 Sulfur 6 Sodium Oxalate 8 Antimony Trisulfide (200 mesh) 15 Magnalium 10 I dont have Sofium Oxalate, can I replace it woth cryolie or Sodium Bicarbonate? Or does anyone know a good simple gold formula for fountain? Also, does the mix always need to be granulated or it can be pressed dry ? And finaly, If I want something that last and is short I need a large nozzle or no nozzle at all and smaller nozzle for high and faster fountain right? Thanks!
Zumber Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I have never actually tried titanium based fountain.....no doubt it will creat white spark...........I have a good experience with black powder+cast iron borings.generally 3 parts of BP and 3/4 parts of 40 mesh cast iron borings works fine to me......I have never coated my cast iron borings (it is necessary to coat if you are going to store this mixture for long time)...I just mix it into BP and press it dry into fountain and use it within 48 hours....I never store this mixture......I store BP mixture and cast iron borings seperate and whenever I want,I mix them and use it immediately.....
Mumbles Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I don't actually recognize that formula. If you give the source/name, we might be able to look into a it a little more. Glitter fountains tend to work best with no nozzle. If the particles are ejected with too high of speed, the effect is ruined. I'd try sodium bicarbonate as a replacement for the glitter first. Sodium oxalate makes nice glitters. You might want to look into getting some in the long run to see if it's worth it for you. For gold sparks, coarse charcoal, iron/steel, or ferrotitanium tend to give good results. They're all a little different.

ChloRure Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Yes it's from John. I got it on skylighter. I have a lot of chemicals but miss oxalate, feti and cast iron... Have sponge ti, flake ti, pine coal 80mesh. They ask for airfloat charcoal, I guess I should get good results with that pine. Willow would burn too fast?
