w4cbl Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 "Blowing Blind"???? I have seen this stated several times, but have not been able to figure it out from the context. What does it mean?
AdmiralDonSnider Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 It refers to a star travelling to the air which has failed to ignite (due to bad priming or similar) or has been blown out by the airflow. It is often used with regard to shell breaks in which there are no or only a few visible stars. In this case the break flash/fire did not succeed in lighting the stars. Priming may be missing, poorly chosen, or the stars may be of a kind that fails to stay lit at high speeds.
FlaMtnBkr Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 At least no one mentioned blindfolds or the woman who can't see.
Zumber Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 And the reason behind blowing out star blind is,The force of the explosion when a shell bursts may "blow the stars blind". Either they don't get lit inside the shell(absence of hot prime, poor prime) or they blow out due to the speed wich they are traveling.
w4cbl Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 So.... that begs the next question: do you "reduce the speed they are traveling" by reducing the burst charge?
dan999ification Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Yes, the confinement also can make the stars travel faster or slower depending on how many layers of pasting are used. Dan.
Zumber Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Yes,but frist preference is to select optimum prime according to star type(metallic, organic),second thing is burst charge amount and selection and then third one is pasting technique.ultimately by trial and error final result is adjusted.
