Okay so first if this is the wrong spot to post this question please mods move it, and I am sorry.

What do you guys think of this firing system? And are there any you would personally recommend. One more thing I'm kind of confused, how many ematches can I hook up to this set up (using all twelve receivers) at one time if I want each one to go off say one second apart?

BRAND NEW item from pyrocreations.

We have done research for the best quality Chinese made firing system and come up with these dandy little units. Not only is the quality extremely high but all 12 channels come with separate receivers so they can easily be spread out throughout the field with no extra time and money spent on messy wire. A+ quality units. Comes 12 receivers, remote and foam lined carrying case. Use range is 200 meter or 600 feet.

  •

Includes a 12CH transmitter and 12 receivers with a carry case, each button works with its correlative receiver separately.

  •

With Learning Code, there are more than 1,000,000 address codes, hardly there are repeated codes and receivers are activated by any of other transmitter units, and system is secure.

  •

With Learning Button in receiver, can change remote / cue or clear stored code easily. Convenient when system needs to be reset.

  •

Transmitter comes with a ON/OFF switch which can cut off power, when system is armed, the switch can avoid any of buttons activated incorrectly by incaution.

  •

    Super-long range 2000m.

  •

3-position switch for TEST, FIRE and power OFF in receiver, Low power indicator tells you when batteries need to be replaced. Complete functions, easy to be used.

I have a couple of those units with the key chain remote.

I think you may be confused on something. That is a manual firing system, so the pace is controlled by how fast you press each button. Each one of those recievers will fire a few ematches in series, so you could have 12 pairs of something fired as quick as you press the buttons.

They are decent systems, I use them to test single items once in a while and we use them for some stage effects since they are small enough to be easily hidden.

What do you want in a firing system? If you share your goals it will be easier to give a good recommendation.

yeah I get that but what I want to know is how many effects I can have hooked up to it at one time.

See my edited post , my keyboard went haywire on me. 2 or 3 ematches in series works fine on them.

There are many wireless systems out there. Cobra is one leader system but it is pricey. I'm skeptical of wireless and would only consider a digital system that has full check digit verification. Just my 1.9 cents worth.

Well my goals would be to shoot small shows, I'm thinking I would like a firing system that can light at least 20 ematchs and I probably don't need any more then 40, at least in the near future; and to fire single items, mostly special effects for the single items. One more question would the remote work if the receiver was on the other side of a wall? Thanks so much nater for your quick reply!

Bob ar you just worried about interference? It says it's good for interference but then again what place is NOT going to.

For shows, I have had problems with cheap wireless systems. For small to mid sized shows, if you want wireless, I would recommend the Cobra system. We use them on a regular basis in commercial shows and they have not let us down like other wireless systems have.

Wireless systems, especially the cheap Chinese ones, are most reliable when there is a clear line of sight from the transmitter to the receiver. It also helps to raise the receiver modules off the ground or mount the antenna with an extension a foot or two above the module.

For a low budget and single items, what you posted will work. I like them best for club shoots where pace is not essential, but for a non-commercial backyard show, it would be sufficient. For a small show where items will be close together, the Pyro-D-Lite systems are decent. http://www.mortartubes.net/Pyro-D-Lite-Fireworks-Wireless-Firing-Systems/c34/index.html?osCsid=3d0882442b5973d3cc5a3bfbb58a8b4d If you don't need single cues off by themselves, I prefer a module with more cues because it is easier on the battery budget.

I checked out the cobra systems they look really nice, but after I put some clips in, the remote, the firmg system and shipping it was $650, which is above my budget; 350 is about all I can afford at the moment. If I do decide on the cobra it won't be for a while. Now obviously I don't want to get a cheapy one now and six months later get the good one, I ether ant to get a decent one now that I'll be happy with for at least a year or two, or wait and get the good one when I can afford it.

With the one from pyrocreations how often does it not light one of the ematches in your experience nater?

One more question, my brothers have remote air plains (one has a six foot wing spand) and I was wondering if I could use the firing system I posted to say shoot rockets from it? I think the one I posted would work but what about the cobra?

bob

If there is an unused channel on the TX/RX, why not use it to fire the rockets?

Not sure what the regulations are in Canada for rockets fired as missiles. In US it could be classified as a destructive device under such use.

Posted

Yeah that should work to I guess, just never thought of it. I don't plan on telling the gov about it, (not saying that that's the only way they can find out) I'm fairly sure that every thing I'm doing with pyro isn't something I'm going to tell the cops about.

right now I'm really thinking the one I posted but still not sure.

I will admit that the idea of rockets fired from a R/C plane would be cool and let's face it, most on this forum are flirting with the boundries of the law. If they really want ya bad enough, they'll trump something up.

To get back to your OP, for a starter system the price is right on the Alpha. Looks good for backyard or small displays and it should give you an idea of what to get later on.....or, just save up for the Cobra.

Go to this website they have alot of different brand names to choose from

www.firingsystems.us

I have a cobra scripted system and 2 32 q rfremote tech systems

for about $30.00 more than your looking to spend now you could get 32 cues as oppossed to 12.

^^

If I didn't have the budget for a Cobra, I would go for something like that rather than the single cue boxes.

Posted

Thanks dean, I'm leaning towards getting the one I posted um three post up and this one http://www.firingsystems.us/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=QF%2D2X6LR&CartID=2 I would just get one but shipping for the first one is like 92 dollars and for both it's 105 dollars shipping.

If I do get both it's 313 dollars with shipping so it's not that bad and I would have 24 cues total.

@nater these boxes have two cues and the other ones have 6 cues. I might get the one dean has but I'm leaning more to the ones I posted recently.

I've had a lot of success with systems from Kingdom through Easypyro.com I've also used a lot of hard wired cues wire over a metre I reuse anyway. Remember to measure the resistance of the wires, 10m of thin wire is enough to prevent things firing especially if your controller has only 4 cells (6V max)

Another forum has a whole thread of topics o DIY construction of firing systems with special reference to a particular series of Chinese boards that permit up to 32 cues wireless for 2000.

What do you guys think about this one*question mark*

Just to clarify I can just use the remote if I don`t want to do it to music right*question mark*
