nater Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 I had not tried to lift very heavy headers using plain BP motors. The rockets I flew last night all had a little too much delay for the weight they were carrying. I guess it is time to dial them back a pinch.
dagabu Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Or- Leave them alone and side drill down the delay about 1/2" to bring your timing down. Nice rockets, LOVE the red!!
WonderBoy Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Nice work Nate, those traditional headings are fun. The motors looked a little sluggish, what composition, and what spindle did you use? Also, how heavy were the headers? WB
nater Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 (edited) The fuel is pretty tame for the tooling. I used the Universal Coreburner from Ben Smith. The fuel was 70/20/10 green mix with 2% dextrin. The tooling can handle quite a bit hotter fuel with a nozzle, but I was aiming for a slower takeoff with these. I am happy with the takeoff and height, just not the delay. I am hoping to launch a flight of these with firefly stars and reports this Fall. The red header was about 300g and the 2" cylinder with glitter comets was 150g. Edited May 14, 2013 by nater
