fizeau Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I've recently buyed my first video cam. I'm not very satisfied with the quality of the vids. It seems the cam has a problem with the bright lights of the fireworks. For example my wheels filmed by night look pretty much washed out in the films. The rotation movement, clearly visible by eyesight is totally vanished in the vid. What could I make better? Is it a problem of the distance? Or should I use a filter? Any advice would be appreciated.
Mumbles Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 There are lots of tips on google about photographing fireworks. Perhaps some of them could be useful. I've heard of a few things like turning down the white balance. Colored cellophane has been used as filters for better colors. Someone else who video tapes more stuff could help you out.
Pretty green flame Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I made a thread about this a while back in the general discussion forum, it might be of some use to you. http://www.apcforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=696
fizeau Posted December 11, 2006 Author Posted December 11, 2006 Thanks for the tips. Unfortunetly most of the Google advices cover only the basics in filming fireworks, which I already know from the forum thread. Thanks, PGF, for the link - I've studied it before - btw, judging by your last video (in November, I believe?) you did improve your filming very much :-)I will try some shots with colored foils, usually used for darkening car windows. If they are of any use I will post the results.
