thirteen Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 im looking to buy some from here http://www.advancedm...us/zirconia.htm what size would be best for a 3lb hf mill and how much would it take to fill it half full
AlexPyro66 Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 If you want your ingrendients to be very fine go for smaller sizes like 3/8 you need about 250 balls for one jar but those zirconia media are very expensive 70USD/kg you should look for used media in ebay
thirteen Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 i know its expensive but i dont want to deal with lead and theres none currently on ebay
Peret Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I use the 1/2 inch cylindrical media in my HF mills. It takes about 200 pieces, which weighs about 3 pounds, to half fill the jar. I know it's expensive but it's just so much better than lead. You won't believe how much better until you try it. In my HF mills (I have 3 of them) it cuts the milling time for BP from 12 hours to less than 3, and when I mill plain chemicals like KNO3 and Perc they come out white, not gray. I should admit that I was lucky enough to get 20 pounds of the stuff, enough for six jars, for $50.
