cplmac Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Cplmac's Red Strobe Comp:Ammonium Perchlorate 60Magnesium 100 mesh 25Strontium Sulfate 15Potassium Dichromate 5Bind with NC Laquer, thin with Acetone Mix all dry ingredients together (I do it in a ziploc bag) then add enough NC Laquer to wet the whole thing, not to wet though. Add a little Acetone to thin the mix a bit and get the NC evenly spread. Knead the whole mess together in the ziploc bag for a few minutes. Wearing protective gloves, work the mix through a screen over some newspaper and let it dry for a couple of hours. It is not necessary to to coat the magnesium, it will be thoroughly coated by the NC Laquer and Potassium Dichromate in the mix as you mix. CAUTION : 1. Potassium Dichromate is a known carcinogen and is generally bad for you in every conceivable way. It's a good idea to wear a respirator and protective gloves when handling it. 2. Be careful when screening this mix, it contains Magnesium, and it is not completely out of the realm of possibility that there could be some type of accidental ignition. cplmac's Red Strobe comp
