can somebody tell me please how to do this??

I think you're talking about something like my little fireball guy.

To do this is pretty simple.

1. In the top right hand corner of every screen, there should be your user name with a little arrow pointing down next to it. Click on it, and go to "my profile"

2. Once on the next screen, there should be a button that says "edit profile". Mine is a blue box, but I believe that differs with every skin. Click on this button.

3. From here, there is a field labeled "photo". Click on it, and you can upload a photo from your computer, link one from somewhere on the internet, or use this thing called gravatar, which is an external avatar hosting service.

From there you should be good to go. Let us know if you're still encountering trouble.

Interesting....I'm new here, and can't find the field labled "photo"........Maybe it is because I'm new.

FWIW: you must have one post to put a picture up. Very interesting........

I'm new to the forum and can't seem to get my avatar image to load. When I click on the current generic image a window opens but it wants a URL to an image, Kind of strange to me. Normally when setting a profile image you can point to a particular image on your computer, i.e. the desktop for instance and then simply upload the image. Since it is requesting a URL, I have attempted to enter the path on my computer to the image but the forum will not accept the path. It returns "invalid URL". Any suggestions or better yet, solutions are appreciated. If this matter is already explained elsewhere on the forum, please excuse my ignorance. Thanks

NtzPrinter, welcome to APC. It looks as if you succeeded at unloading a photo, and I totally get it... you'd like to change it ;) Edited by PeteyPyro

Let me know if you're still having issues, but it seems like you figured it out. There should be an option for both uploading a file from your computer, or using a remotely hosted one from the internet.

Yes, after making one post the option to find and upload the image magically appeared.

Thanks for the welcome Pyromaniac! I actually stole that image from an old band I love - Gentle Giant...

There's some weird stuff that happens on the forum for members with zero posts. That is not one I would have expected. Good to know though.
