brimstoned Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) A few months ago I purchased a set of whistle rocket tools (4 oz), but was never satisfied with the results...the hollow ram was too short IMHO. The sides of the core always turned out fragile and crumbly.Last night whilst gearing up for NYE I noted that 1/2" PEX is a perfect fit for my 5" tubes so I cut a 5 1/2" length and used that to press the first two increments around the spindle; after which I proceeded with the manufactured tooling. The result was a perfect, tight core. An added advantage is no possibility of metal contacting metal during the hollow ram stage. Edited December 23, 2012 by brimstoned
