Potassiumchlorate Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Although I have been into "serious" pyro since 2009 at least, I have never made a starmine because I don't care much for that particular item. However, it seems that my Bleser Red Mg stars are so badly attacked by moist that the only thing to do is to burn them. I'd prefer to do something more interesting than just burning them on the ground, though. Isn't is enough just to put the stars and some lift in a cardboard mortar?
Mortartube Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Put a perforated card disc over the lift , with stars on top of it, for a better effect, but otherwise your plan is good.
nater Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I have made many simple mines with just a little lift and a bit of stars in a cardboard mortar. It will work fine.
AlexPyro66 Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 For a simple starmine this is a good how to video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK_c4JXA41U
Potassiumchlorate Posted December 21, 2012 Author Posted December 21, 2012 I already made one and tested: a 3" with 20 grams of BP and about 220 grams of stars. Very nice
Mumbles Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 For a simple starmine this is a good how to video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK_c4JXA41U Good is not a term I'd use to describe that video.
marks265 Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I'd really like to comment on the video, but it's too close to x-mas to stir up any more crap than what has already has come to the surface.
AirCowPeacock Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I use 1/5 lift to starweight, and put all the stars in a little tissue paper bag--works fine for me.
AlexPyro66 Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 Good is not a term I'd use to describe that video.Yes it isnt a very good video but it is simple starmine
Shadowcat1969 Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I would hazard a guess that what Mumbles was refering to was not the quality of the video, but the methods and final product in it. I would smack that guy upside the head, if I could, he's just asking for an accident.
taiwanluthiers Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I can't stand the crap music of that video, so I stopped it like 1 minutes in.
snufkin Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 A better video tutorial would be this: (part 1) (part 2) (result)
