TheArchitect23 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 just a thought, but i notice alot i see people trading items for chems, vise versa ect. often, and it had me thinking.what if there was a section above the agora for trade offers. a public place for all eyes to see open transactions.you could more easily keep track of whats what and where,it would be a form of buyer / seller reputation that others can see,it keeps people honest, and may even attract more eyes to a potential trade for needed items when cash is short. just a thought, in another forum i belong to they have both a for sale, and for trade section that works in the same way.the trade section is almost always more active.
dagabu Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I would love that ability to do that as well. Trade and Barter page. -dag
Hoppy Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Great idea... I just imported the world'a largest skylanterns and would be open to trade or barter
Mumbles Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I've been considering opening up the Agora to other people posting there. It's original intent isn't really being served, and I think that it's falling short of it's purpose. This would allow much easier trade, as well as hopefully increase it's usefulness with some interaction between seller and buyer.

The main problem with the AGORA is the closed system where you cant bring it forward again (bump) for others to view. For instance, I offer Marshall brand paper tubes for sale, 3/4" and 1" are posted on the AGORA but no body knows about them due to the closed nature of the way you cannot reply to the post. Lets open it up to trade and allow replys to be posted. I know that would work for me. -dag

AirCowPeacock Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Yes, Please!! Could you not use obnoxiously large font?
Bangkokpyro Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I would say the Agora in in present form is a waste of time. kind of a 'one post opportunity' to show what you have for sale. Once someone posts after you your post is buried and not realy seen again.
dagabu Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Could you not use obnoxiously large font? Really?
Mumbles Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I agree with everyone, and this is something I've considered for a while. The original intended purpose was to keep transactions in private. That clearly doesn't really work very well. Especially now that we've evolved into primarily a pyrocentric board, I really have no qualms about opening it up to comments, inquiries, bumping, etc. I'll see what I can do about opening things up tonight. I'm also probably going to remove that manual approval thing. It's annoying for both sides I'm sure.
Algenco Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 good move, i'm sure members will help watch for inapropriate listings
Mumbles Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I think I have everything all setup. Let's see how this goes. Let me know if there are any problems. It's still setup so only full members can see the section. I think you should be able to reply to pre-existing topics.
Blackthumb Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Thanks Mumbles......(using a smaller less obnoxious font....)
