Potassiumchlorate Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) Despite my preferences for chlorates I have tested another ammonium perchlorate composition Composition type: ammonium perchlorate based organic blue star composition. I don't know very much of the creator, just the name Pihko and that he probably is a Finn. Colour/effect: deep blue star. Incompabilities: chlorates and potassium nitrate. Composition in weight: Ammonium perchlorate 60Copper(II)oxide 20Sulfur 17Red gum 6 Total: 103 Red gum was used as the binder. I primed it with Hardt Prime #6, but pinball prime will probably also do. I think it is as good as any other AP blue, including the ones with Paris Green that I have tested. PihkoAP1 001.AVI Edited November 3, 2012 by Potassiumchlorate
Bcorso85 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I've been using a ammonium per and copper oxychloride blue. Its a simple formula. I'll dig it up for you if you like. I used it as a star core in a kumaro star. Absolutely stunning in a 4 inch shell.
Potassiumchlorate Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 Sure. I'm always open for testing new stuff
Potassiumchlorate Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 What do you guys think about using shellac instead of red gum and SGRS as the binder? Shellac burns almost as fast as red gum with AP.
