3inchshell Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Dear members, what kind of prime is used with lancaster red and how would i use this if i use a starplate
mabuse00 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Hi there, you have to specify which one you mean. If it's one of the organic chlorate versions, use H3 or no prime at all. You will have to use a chlorate compatible breakcharge then -> H3 ect.If you do not fell comfortable using chlorates, you can also use perchlorate instead, and prime with greenmix. If it's the magnesium version, I would use pinball prime with 5% Si and a final layer of greenmix.

bob Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) green mix is the three chemicals of black powder (potassium nitrate, charcoal, sulfur) that have just been screened together ie not milled. It burns quite slow and that's why it's a good prime.I think you know what the ratio is but some new people might not so here it is 75 parts potassium nitrate, 15 parts charcoal, 10 parts sulfur and if your using it as a prime you should add about 2 parts dextrinbob Edited November 3, 2012 by bob
Potassiumchlorate Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I use pinball prime for all compositions now, except for the few AP compositions that I test, where I use Hardt Prime #6. When I'm out of that I will prime AP stars with pinball prime +5% silicon as well. That prime is unbeatable
