tay1392 Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I was wondering if you made flash powder, would it still work good and burn fast even if you dont use "DARK" german/ blackhead whatever powder and you just use regular ALUMINUM POWDER????? In case you were wondering, I've gotten interested in making small bottle rockets and need to make some flash for the rockets to explode when they go up in the air. --Thanks!!

It also depends on the mesh, 400+ mesh flake is reccomended for flash. EDIT: you can use some good BP for the report, 3FG or homemade meal works fine, as long as it is ball milled and wooshes when lit
vongeetch Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Tay, before you get involved with flash comps, get your small bottle rockets in the air first. Work on developing a good BP for your fuel. There are many sites on the web concerning flash comps, do some research on your own. Flash in even small quanities can still be very dangerous. Start with BP comps and work your way up, and please use common sense! If your not sure about something,Research! I'm not trying to disuade you, but the more you can understand the different concepts of chemical reactions in pyro and rocketry, you can go a long way in this art! Whatever you choose to do, please be careful, and have fun. Vongeetch-
