fred815 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Now I've read where one should ram their clay nozzels (core burner) with one increment?? Evidently layering is a no no. Really??
Seymour Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I don't think layering is a no no. I have rammed nossles and clay plugs in a couple of increments plenty of times. Ultimately though, you don't need excess clay, and about the right amount in most rockets and other pressed devices corresponds to one increment, so it's usually done in one increment out convenience, and why not?
val77 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 for a good noozle use 8 gramms of clay for a 3/4 rocket
Col Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 For 3/4" motors i use a single 10g increment of nozzle mix pressed to 6500psi.
val77 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 but the quantity of clay depend to the power of your powder nice look col !
mabuse00 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 The best compression allways occurs immedialtely under the rammer, and it decreases with the length of the increment. Thus you create sharp jumps in density at the changeovers - predestined breaking points...
