brimstoned Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Has anyone used this?I have half an acre with at least 12 different species and it'spruning time...if it has worth, I'll dry a few pounds of the bigger sectionsand cook them up in the Spring.
val77 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 good ideayou can be the first to test it!perhaps it has already been tested may be in China
usapyro Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 It's been tested thoroughly. It's 1/3rd as powerful as willow.http://www.creagan.net/fireworks/charcoal_tests.html I don't think different types of bamboo are going to make any difference.
AirCowPeacock Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Perhaps for charcoal stars, or other stars?
usapyro Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Hmmm... I wonder if anyone knows if it's good for sparks... My top wood for sparks that I know of so far is pine.
AirCowPeacock Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 I might try some Pinecone petal charcoal here in a few days.

Good article...I still might dry some for sparks and tails.
Swede Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 I tried some... I think it's poor stuff, to be honest. It's loaded with minerals, silicate and the like. And the intact bamboo sections can explode in a fire. If you've never burned bamboo, try it, it's wild!
brimstoned Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) We burn prunings every year, the green stalks bang exceptionally loud! Edited October 29, 2012 by brimstoned
