Peret Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 It looks like a rack may have fallen over and fired into the crowd, but I'm sure most of the injuries will turn out to be people crushed in the panic to get away. I remember I was in Portsmouth for the silver jubilee fleet review in 1977, looking forward to a most spectacular firework display - I paid a lot of money for our seats. But more people wanted to get in than there was space, so some moron, noticing a large empty space, let the crowds into the setback area right alongside the mortars. How crazy was that - they were firing 8 inch multibreaks, each bigger than the last, and I think they got up to 9 breaks when a few green stars fell into this crowd and it panicked. That was that, they cancelled the whole show. Bloody pussies, not even one death.
