Draco_Aster Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 A while ago I got some 1lb tools from pyrotooling.com. Made a few rockets and now I'm ready for some real headers. I'm in the middle of making a small shell (1-1/2" can) and need to know how exactly to attach it without the small charge that lights the header popping the shell off.Is it even necessary to keep it attached? I was thinking it might spin out of control if it detached. Maybe al93535 or pyrohawk can answer this or give a more indepth explanation on headers
rocket Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Maybe hot gluing then pasting might do the trick. As long as the header takes fire I wouldn’t think it would mater if the header came off the rocket.
maximusg Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Yeah, ive attached headers with as little as a few turns of masking tape. They have all worked. I didn't really notice the headers flying off at apogee, but i don't think it would make that much difference if the delay charge is with in the body of the rocket, and not in the shell.
shadopyro Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 i think he means the header flailing off at launch, as this has happened to me a few times in the past. - Rather annoying when the shell just falls off and the rocket goes flying.I just solved it by taping the shell on with a few turns of sellotape or masking tape after hotmelt gluing it on.
