PyroAce Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Nice work! What was with the timing? That glitter mine at the end was amazing!!
vh718 Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 Nice work! What was with the timing? no time fuse was used, i pressed the TT then clay over the top. i drilled through the clay and used that to light the bombette. it was pretty much all guess work and the TT burnt a bit slower then expected.

Either way it turned out very impressive, I like it! Do you have more images of you making the cake, the inserts etc. I always like to see pics of a build process.

Col Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 You can have as much fun doing the preliminary testing as shooting the finished cake.3/8"-1/2" of C6 will give you 2-3 seconds of delay, D1 glitter only needs to be 3/16"- 1/4" thick for the same delay. Your mileage may vary. You can press the clay complete with the hole in one step by using a hollow rammer with a brass rod down the middle.
PyroAce Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 What was the glitter mine formula at the end vh718 I wouldn't mind giving it a go.
Bcorso85 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Nice job. I'm in the middle of making my own cake. Did you use green mix granulated to lift the inserts? One other question. What did you use for a break charge? I made some h3 and uncontained it was much slower than i expected. The slow flash...70 potassium nitrate 30 sulfur and 20 dark aluminum was even slower uncontained. Can you give me some advice?
Col Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 You`ll need decent lift for small inserts, 5-7FA packs a nice punch, Whistle mixed with granulated bp makes a good burst charge, i use a level teaspoon of bp and 0.3g of whistle rocket fuel for 5/8" id inserts. Slow flash is typically 5/3/2.
