brimstoned Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I don't know how many members use Ubuntu Linux for their computing needs, but for those that do...there is a program in the software archives called "Kalzium".This is an advanced periodic table that includes and equation balancer, a molecular modeler and even detailed elemental spectra data!I'm finding it quite handy when formulating compositions!
Swede Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I looked for Kalzium for Windows via Google. It exists, but the two places I tried to download it, also tried to install some sort of toolbar crap on my PC. I'm always suspicious of that sort of thing. I'd like to try it. I'll keep looking for a clean download.
brimstoned Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 It is possible to dual boot your system, Ubuntu linux takes up little room and costs nothing.I'm in an IT training program and am having to study Windows, but for home and half of laptop, I like the free and fast...
spoonski Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Linux is great - thanks for the program i will have to try it out
pdfbq Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) Dual boot is an option but Oracle VM is much easier: Install Oracle VM box on your windoze (yes it's free). Then install Ubuntu on this virtual box (free of course). Its unbelievable easy nowadays (you need a bit of a windows pc though)The only tricky thing was full screen in VMBox but even that is now easy.. Ah.. and dont forget Ctrl right + L is shifting between full and window mode Edited September 17, 2012 by pdfbq
brimstoned Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Is true...I forgot about the virtual option!
