I am pretty sure they are. But even if they weren't it always the best practice to treat every chemical as a health concern. The old better safe than sorry phrase!

Yes, DMHO is hazardous as well, which is the #1 fire suppressant of all time. Perhaps you want to know about hazards v.s. benefits and how to mitigate the risks?

The dry chemical in ABC is typically monoammonium phosphate. Interestingly, the EPA wants it contained and reported if it is discharged on the earth, yet the same chemical is a component of dry fertilizer as a source of nitrogen and phosphorus.

 

Flame retardants are different the fire suppression chems too. Some of the flame retardants in plastics are organophosphates, which an over-exposure to causes a number of extremely unpleasant symptoms which can lead to death if untreated.
