eb11 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) here is a picture of the shell i just built have not spiked it yet just wondering if you guys have any ideas on how to attach the fuse to it from the top i am using firecracker fuse have some left over so been using this fuse on my shells. i added gorilla glue to the time fuse to add strenght was just using wood glue before any suggestions will be welcome Edited August 23, 2012 by eb11
dan999ification Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 i usually glue another disc on the time fuse end while the glue around the fuse is still wet this gives me extra piece of mind, as for top fusing.. Take a piece of fuse a bit longer than the can, i cross match with this fuse, attatch it from end to end fold the fuse around the base (this ignites the lift) seal it in with kraft or tape if using paper fuse i just glue qm on the side, thats the passfire sorted.Add leader fuse, it needs to touch the passfire to ignite it and the lift, more than one way, you could crossmatch with the leader and ignite the passfire with the crossmatch up to you but i would spike and paste first to prevent damaging fuses or burning through the shell, good thing with top fusing is you can lift small shells harder confidently ( if the construction is sound). eb11 Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 fired this shell off tonight went up nice and exploded nice just not all the fish fuses lit i dipped them in bp with 25%alcohol and 75% water and let them dry before putting them in the fuse will work on that but just happy no flowerpot. tried to video but need to hit record for that maybe next time
dan999ification Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 nice, there should be a pic of a small top fused multi break in my gallery, didnt hit record for that one, bummer but it happens with all the exitement sometimes. Dan.
eb11 Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 thanks dan been wondering why all of the falling leaves fuses in the shell did not ignite did a test in the back yard and lit 1 without the bp mash and it lit really fast the fuse without the mash took a while so i can only conclude the the bp mash came of some how
dan999ification Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 if by mash you mean prime dip them is granular bp after the slurry has been applied while its still wet, or add some metal to the slurry or both they should light. Dan.
eb11 Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 if by slurry i take some 4fbp and add 75%water with 25% alcohol till it makes like cake frosting then i dip the ends into it and let them dry. to prime my stars i spray the water alcohol mixture on the stars the pour 4fbp onto them and shake them then put them out to dry tell me if what i am doing is right thanks
dan999ification Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 should work fine if the shell doesnt dump the contents befor they see fire, evrything i prime with slurry gets dipped in bp fines, for comets i just paint one end then dip. Dan.
dagabu Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 if by slurry i take some 4fbp and add 75%water with 25% alcohol till it makes like cake frosting then i dip the ends into it and let them dry. to prime my stars i spray the water alcohol mixture on the stars the pour 4fbp onto them and shake them then put them out to dry tell me if what i am doing is right thanks What is your binder? Water and Alcohol are not binders nor is BP. Add 2% dextrin into your BP slurry for adhesion. -dag
dan999ification Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 i didnt spot that, i assumed it was bound, if not its probably breaking off. Dan
