eb11 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 wondering if you guys can conferm my suspicions i shot off my 2 inch can shell yesterday and they all flower potted i suspect that the time fuse blew out into the shell i used wood glue to hold the fuse in place any ideas thanks
pyrokid Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Fire doesn't necessarily need to get into the shell via the time fuse assembly. A poor paste wrap could allow it into the shell as well. A technique I've seen is to wrap the base of the time fuse in pasted string once it's installed on the shell. There should be more wraps near the base of the fuse than near the crossmatch. Hope this helps.
eb11 Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 i had it happen to all three shells so just tring to figure out what i diid because i was consistant in all 3 at least the first shell i ever fired 2 weeks ago did not have this problem
graumann Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 oh, eb11, perhaps wood glue isn't the best to use, I assume your wood glue is pva which in my experience doesn't adhere well to cardboard on its own. Works great in small quantities between things, but not just as a great lump. Perhaps try smear some glue on the fuse and the inside of the hole, let it dry for a few minutes and then insert or try hot glue, wheat paste or epoxy.
alexpyro101 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) maybe try hot glue or construct a fuse washer. or if using quick match top fusing can shells is always a good option, never tried it but the concept seems goodhttp://www.google.co...K4s4GgDw&zoom=1 hot glue filled ring is a fuse washer, it adds extra glue around the time fuse to hold it in Edited August 21, 2012 by alexpyro101
Megabusa Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I use hot melt glue on my 2" canister shells. End caps are hardboard disks, with the time fuse glued on both sides on the bottom one. Never had a flowerpot like this.
