I launched my first 2.5in shell today; It weighed around 60g. The TT stars were not primed. Had 1g of boost, 5:1 BP Rice Hulls, 4 layers using the 3 strip method and 8.2g of BP Lift. What can I do to be successful next time?

Didn't seem to go very high, how much lift did you use? It's hard to tell if the stars blew blind or not because you launched it during the day. For your next one prime the stars with black powder (That's all you need for tigertails) and try launching at night or at least dusk.

I used 8.2g of Hot BP. Yeah next time it will have to be at night so I can really tell if the stars light or blow blind, I was strapped for time today. Also for the prime what ratio should I use?

Sorry for the late reply, but when you say 8.2g of hot BP is it granulated or meal? If it was meal powder that you used, granulate it so it can be used for lift. Lift powder needs to be granulated so it burns faster. For the prime just I don't go by a ratio, just spray water and alcohol (75:25) on your stars if they are dry and sprinkle black powder on them until you can't see the original color of the star, but when making fresh stars while they are still wet just sprinkle it on the same

It's granulated. I did a couple more shells with 12g of granulated lift and they went up and worked great.
